We are incredibly proud to announce that Walker’s Shortbread has been granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment by His Majesty King Charles III for the supply of shortbread and oatcakes to the Royal Household. Nicky Walker, Managing Director at Walker’s Shortbread, said: “...As an independent, family run business, we are extremely proud to carry the Royal Warrant which is a great honour and we feel is a true mark of recognition for our service and commitment to baking ‘Scotland at its finest’ for over a century. “It is particularly poignant to receive the appointment following the very sad passing of my uncle, Sir Jim Walker recently. My uncle, my father Joe and my aunt Marjorie were extremely proud when Walker’s was granted the Royal Warrant for the supply of shortbread and oatcakes to the late Queen Elizabeth II and I know how delighted they would have been by this Appointment from his Majesty King Charles III. SIR JAMES N WALKER CBE 1944 - 2024 It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sir James Nicol Walker CBE on Sunday, 15th December 2024. James, known as ‘Jim,’ was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated over 60 years to building Walker’s into a globally recognised brand.   Born in Elgin in 1944, Jim joined the family bakery in Aberlour, becoming its first salesperson and driving the business from a local bakery to a worldwide name with a turnover of £184m in 2023. As Joint Managing Director alongside his late brother Joe, his leadership and dedication to Speyside and its community were instrumental in Walker’s success.   Jim was awarded a CBE in 1999 and a Knighthood in 2022 for exceptional services to the food industry. Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for his warmth, humility, and devotion to his family, colleagues, and community.    He will always be remembered as a devoted, energetic and kind man who was an inspiration to many who knew him. We will honour his memory by continuing to uphold the values and legacy he built over a lifetime of dedication. It’s official! We’ve launched the world’s first (ever) interactive shortbread vending machine at Edinburgh Airport. In partnership with the UK’s leading travel retailer, Avolta's World Duty Free - WDF, the ‘first of its kind’ machine welcomes visitors to the ‘World of Walker’s’, where they can discover the story of our 125-year-old brand and enjoy a complimentary shortbread finger and be recommended a product to purchase in the World Duty free store as they pass through. The vending machine invites passengers to take a digital quiz to help match them to the perfect Walker’s product for any occasion – whether for gifting, to share with family and friends or simply to enjoy themselves – and takes travellers on a journey to the Scottish Highlands, the proud home of Walker’s Shortbread. Nicky Walker, Managing Director at Walker’s Shortbread, said: “As a family-run business, we’re thrilled to launch the world’s first shortbread vending machine.
