Wow. It was such a cool experience to have our documentary featured at the Waco Family and Faith International Film Festival. First, I’m honored to be a part of the incredible work that Tyrha M. Lindsey-Warren, PhD and her team are doing to showcase stories of community and the human spirit. Second, how cool is it that I got to be on stage with Robert Fuller as a filmmaker??!! Let’s be real, Robert did most of the heavy lifting on this film, but I truly loved being able to craft this story with him. Getting to show off this film two years later brought back so many feelings and I’m just so glad that we could continue to celebrate the resilience and hope of the community of West. It was a pleasure to attend the McGregor Chamber Banquet last night! We were informed of the economic growth of the City and its numerous entities, witnessed a lively discussion panel of McGregor business leaders, and acknowledged award winners. It’s a great privilege to work with the City of McGregor, for its community and leaders have the proper mindset and vision to cultivate a sustainable thriving community!

It was a special night at the TSPE Central Texas Chapter Annual Engineers Week Banquet! We are incredibly proud to announce that Jonathan Cannon, P.E. has been honored with the Engineer of the Year award AND Ryan Sexton, P.E. has been awarded the Young Engineer of the Year award!???? Growing up, I honestly didn’t have a clue what my dad did as a civil engineer. I have vivid memories of sitting at his green drafting table at home to work on art projects and going into his office to draw on the giant sheets of paper. I especially remember rolling my eyes when he’d take a “quick” detour during rainstorms to check out his recent projects. I don’t think he was all that surprised when I chose to pursue a marketing degree at Baylor even though I’d been accepted to Colorado School of Mines. Fast forward 20 years and I love that I now get to combine the two worlds of marketing and engineering. I promise I now fully understand what a civil engineer does and it’s pretty amazing to get to tell the story of the positive impact they have on our communities. Whether it’s during onboarding, creating a documentary or recording a podcast, I love highlighting the powerful work that is often overlooked.
