Celebrating Claes Oldenburg, born on this day in 1929, with a special look into the Walker archives. Oldenburg is pictured here in an interview with a masked Martin Friedman, the Walker's former director, in preparation for the 1975 exhibition “Oldenburg: Six Themes.” About the artist Friedman said, "Oldenburg’s genius has always been to generalize form, allowing the specific identities of his objects—even the most familiar of them—to admit a multitude of interpretations." ??: Photo by Eric Sutherland
