Agriscience projects often require specialized solutions, such as integrating complex systems for human and animal use, where traditional methods may not suffice. Agile Design addresses these challenges with a flexible, adaptable approach that prioritizes people (and animals) by design. In our newest article, "Why Agile Design Matters in Agriculture," we explore key agile design principles and how we have applied them to achieve exceptional results > https://lnkd.in/eC33pMHW #agriscience #architecture #AgileDesign

Project Spotlight: UF New Undergraduate Residential Complex with Honors College The Honors Village is a vibrant new addition to the University of Florida, designed to foster a sense of community and support both academic and social engagement. With a blend of modern style and traditional UF elegance, the Honors Village houses 1,400 students in single and double suites. Beyond student housing, the Honors Village offers a range of facilities aimed at enriching the overall student experience. Music rooms, maker space, and other academic spaces are integrated into the design to support residents’ personal and educational growth. These spaces create opportunities for students to connect with one another through shared interests and collaborative learning. The Honors Village marks a major achievement in UF's goal of strengthening the university community by providing a diverse range of social and academic experiences. It serves as a home and a place of learning, ensuring that students feel supported and connected throughout their time at UF. Project Spotlight: UF College of Nursing Innovation & Learning Laboratory In collaboration with the University of Florida College of Nursing, Walker transformed an existing space into a cutting-edge simulation and learning lab for modern, experiential nursing education. We worked directly with students and faculty to understand the requirements for these high-tech spaces and created a thoughtful renovation plan that not only meets the current program’s needs, but also offers flexible design solutions to accommodate artificial intelligence and virtual reality learning adaptations in the future. The new space includes classrooms, patient and procedure simulation rooms, control room simulation, a cross-disciplinary innovation studio, skills lab, and equipment storage. Every aspect was planned to accurately represent hospital-like conditions for the expert training of nursing students. This includes wall units and patient beds complete with oxygen, air, vacuum regulators, suction canister, blood pressure cuff with mount and basket, sharps containers, and more. In this setting, it’s safe to make—and learn from—your mistakes. Learning via these simulations builds confident and skillful nurses, ready from day one to deliver expert patient care. #DesignForAnAgileWorld

Building the future of skilled trades: Santa Fe College Building Construction Institute The combination of modern design and practical learning at Santa Fe College’s Building Construction Institute in Gainesville is helping shape the next generation of skilled professionals. Designed by Joe Walker and completed in 2009, this 27,000 GSF pre-engineered metal building features traditional teaching classrooms and large, open building trade studios. Inside, students gain hands-on experience that prepares them for career advancement or initial employment in a wide range of industrial trades, including masonry, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. In fact, the building itself functions as a teaching tool, as much of the internal structure and systems remain exposed. The building integrates numerous innovative approaches to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), including solar hot water heating and solar power supplementation. Its structural components combine pre-engineered metal and insulated exterior gasketed panels with traditional construction techniques, such as CMU and drywall on metal studs. Santa Fe College
