Our Fall Alumni Gathering was food for the soul. It's amazing to see how, no matter what year we graduated, we are all pursuing careers and life paths that engage with helping others. That is the true legacy of Walkabout--spreading care and kindness and a spirit of adventure, willingness to explore, and a passion for helping others be their best selves. Our cup is full today ??

Learner-centered ecosystems that extend beyond traditional school boundaries help embed #youngpeople in their communities, making education for them more inclusive, impactful, liberating, and supportive of belonging. Our 2023 Ecosystems of Learning Report, co-authored with Education Reimagined and funded by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, puts forth examples of the educational transformation made possible by youth-centered, community-connected learning ecosystems. When we guide young people toward more big picture thinking and help them see how they fit into the larger world this leads to a greater sense of self and purpose. So cool to see research backing up the work that Walkabout and similar approaches to education have been doing for years.
