?? Out with the Old, In with the New! ?? With temps hitting the 80s today in Oklahoma, we’re already thinking about pool season! ?? This before-and-after transformation at Altus Air Force Base was completed just in time for summer 2024 - bringing a fresh new slide and an upgrade to a well-loved space on base. This project was a submission to our Waldrop Quarterly Photo Contest by Wes Stevens, who summed it up perfectly with the caption: “Out with the old, in with the new.” A big shoutout to everyone involved in making this happen - projects like these remind us that building better doesn’t just mean critical infrastructure, but also the spaces where people unwind, connect, and create memories. #BuildBetter #AltusAFB #PoolUpgrade #WaldropConstruction #BeforeAndAfter #PhotoContest #BringOnSummer

??? Learning & Innovating with AIA Central Oklahoma ??? Yesterday, Waldrop had the opportunity to attend AIA Central Oklahoma's "Lunch & Learn with Fox Blocks", where we explored the benefits of insulated concrete forms in construction. Alfonso Nieves led a great discussion, comparing building with Fox Blocks to constructing a giant Yeti cooler—a fun (and accurate!) way to highlight ICF’s superior insulation for both sound and temperature. It’s always great to learn about innovative materials that can enhance efficiency and durability in construction. Thanks to AIA Central Oklahoma and Fox Blocks for an insightful session! #BuildBetter #AIA #FoxBlocks #ICF #InnovationInConstruction #ContinuousLearning

?? Closing Out WIC Week with Gratitude ?? As NAWIC Oklahoma City #383's Women in Construction Week comes to a close, we want to recognize not only the incredible women who are part of Waldrop today but also those who have been part of our journey over the years. To the women who have built their careers with us, led projects, solved challenges, and helped shape who we are - thank you. Some have continued to grow within Waldrop, others have taken their talents to new opportunities, started families, or even launched businesses of their own. No matter where their paths have led, their contributions remain part of our story. Your strength, skill, and dedication have made a lasting impact, and Waldrop is better because of you. To all the women making their mark in this industry - we see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you. ?????? #WomenInConstruction #BuildBetter #WICWeek #Gratitude #TeamWaldrop

?? Progress in Motion at Mercy Memorial Road Clinic ?? We love seeing projects take shape from the inside out! This in-progress shot - submitted to our Quarterly Photo Contest by Shane McDonnell - captures a key moment at the Mercy Memorial Road Clinic, one of several retail-style clinics we’re proud to be supporting for Mercy. Designed by REES, this space is taking shape with a framed-out partition and completed in-wall, setting the foundation for a welcoming and efficient clinic. Taken from inside the gallery, this view looks toward the main check-in station, where patients will soon be greeted in a space built for both comfort and function. Great capture, Shane! We look forward to more snapshots as we Build Better together. #BuildBetter #MercyClinic #HealthcareConstruction #InProgress #WaldropConstruction #RetailHealthcare #ReesArchitects

? A Night of Impact at the Mercy Ardmore Gala ? This past weekend, Waldrop had the pleasure of attending the Mercy Gala in Ardmore - a night dedicated to supporting Mercy Hospital Ardmore’s Outpatient renew and redesign project. The energy in the room was incredible, from the delicious dinner to one of the most entertaining fundraising moments we’ve ever seen—the Dessert Dash! Guests raced (literally) to claim their favorite sweet treat, in order, based on the value of their donation, making for a fun and fast-paced way to give back. The night wrapped up with a high-energy live auction before the band took over the dance floor. Waldrop is proud to support Mercy and be part of an evening that makes a real impact. We look forward to continuing to Build Better alongside such a dedicated organization! #MercyGala #BuildBetter #MercyHospitalArdmore #HealthcareConstruction #CommunityImpact

?? Kicking Off Waldrop’s Quarterly Photo Contest! ?? At Waldrop, we know that the best perspectives come from the field—where the real work happens. That’s why we’re launching our Quarterly Photo Contest for our employees! It’s a chance to showcase the incredible work being done across our projects, through the eyes of the people making it happen. Our first featured submission comes from Tyler Hancox, who works on our North Carolina projects for the USACE Wilmington District. He captured this dynamic moment: "Concrete poured over top of a bituminous asphalt. Airfield, Ft. Bragg, 2023." This photo is a perfect example of the skill, precision, and teamwork that goes into every project we take on. Whether it’s a quiet moment of progress or a high-energy construction scene, we can’t wait to see what our team shares next. Stay tuned for more incredible shots from the field, and if you’re part of the Waldrop team—get those cameras ready! #WaldropConstruction #ConstructionInAction #USACE #FtLiberty #QuarterlyPhotoContest #TeamworkInFocus

?? Recapping an Incredible Week at #SAMESBC24! ?? Last week, Waldrop's DoD procurement team, Kristen Lary, Evan Stevens and Cody McDonnell headed to New Orleans for the 2024 SAME Small Business Conference, and what a week it was! They're back in the office now, inspired and energized from all we experienced. Here's a quick look back: ?? Tuesday: Some of our team kicked off the week with a powerful pre-conference session, "Building Bridges: Partnering with Indigenous Communities," while others connected with peers during pre-conference networking. Later in the evening, Kristen had the honor of attending the President's Reception—a perfect opportunity for her to connect and prep for the busy days ahead! ?? Wednesday: The team gathered bright and early for the opening session, where they heard from leaders across DoD agencies. The insights were invaluable! Then, it was off to the exhibit hall—a hub of energy and collaboration—where over the next three days, we strengthened relationships with existing partners, met new connections, and uncovered exciting opportunities for the future. ?? Thursday: What a kick-off to the day ahead with an incredible keynote by Kyle Scheele, who shared his framework for becoming an idea factory. He taught us that every idea needs five things: a chance, a home, time, a bodyguard, and a crew. This resonated deeply with our team. We’ve always believed that having lots of ideas is key to finding great ones. But now, with Kyle's framework, we have a roadmap to nurture and protect those ideas to drive impactful results. It’s a true game-changer! ?? Breakout Highlights: Throughout the week, the team dove into sessions on leadership best practices, the evolving role of AI, and even the intricacies of subcontract flow-down clauses (surprisingly riveting!). These moments reinforced our commitment to staying ahead of the curve in delivering proactive, dependable solutions. ? Final Moments in NOLA: After one last lap around the exhibit hall, the team wrapped up the week with beignets and café au lait—because no trip to NOLA is complete without it. Now, we’re back and diving into follow-ups, armed with fresh ideas and new connections to help us continue building a better construction experience. To everyone we met—thank you for your time and collaboration. We’re excited about what lies ahead and look forward to creating impactful solutions together. Let’s make it happen! #SAMESBC24 #buildbetter #DoD #BuildingBridges #Leadership #Collaboration #IdeasInAction #smallbusiness

Waldrop is proud to support Kristen, a strong leader in our firm, as she shares her leadership abilities with industry through the S.A.M.E. Heartland Region Leadership Development Program. Kristen’s drive to explore the science of leadership and human behavior showcases her commitment to growth and excellence—qualities we value deeply at Waldrop. It’s exciting to see how she’s applying these insights to inspire teams and create success, both here at Waldrop and throughout the DoD A/E/C industry. Well done, Kristen!
Wrapping up an incredible journey with the Society of American Military Engineers Heartland Region's Leadership Development Program for the 2024 session! Over the course of three enlightening sessions, we dove deep into the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and leadership, uncovering the science of how our brains function and how these insights can elevate our abilities as leaders. We explored leadership through the lens of human behavior, focusing on the "why" behind our actions and decisions. By introducing the main brain functions involved in human behavior, we gained an understanding of how these processes influence both individual perspectives and team dynamics. My biggest takeaway? Discovering the "why" behind the choices I make in reaction to situations. Understanding the brain’s role in these decisions has been a game-changer for how I approach leadership and interactions with others. What truly stood out for me, though, as one of the program facilitators, was the incredible energy and participation from the group. The thoughtful contributions, shared experiences, and collaborative spirit made this program truly special. To our amazing participants, Society of American Military Engineers, Oklahoma City Post and SAME Tulsa Post - Thank you for your engagement and openness. To my fellow program leaders, Anna Childers and Emelia Brooks-Sisco, PE thank you for allowing me to contribute to such a meaningful and impactful experience. I’m excited to bring these learnings to my own leadership journey and to continue exploring how we can all grow as leaders. If you’ve ever considered how neuroscience and leadership intersect, I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences!
