We’re proud to share that we’re investing an additional $46 million in pay increases and benefit enhancements for eligible supply chain associates.?? This is the latest step in our journey to invest in associates through a combination of higher wages, leading benefit plans, skills training, and education offerings at no cost to the associate. Archana Gound was working at Walmart Canada for seven years - most recently as an Assistant Store Manager - before she took the leap to switch her career path and study Optical Sciences through our Live Better U program. “LBU helped me explore other areas of the business that I was interested in,” said Archana, who now a Student Optician. “It’s helping me grow my career, expand my future with the company, and support me in becoming an optician.” In fall 2023, LBU was launched with the intention for associates to gain the skills needed for the future, all without having to worry about the cost of tuition, books, and fees. “The financial support and not having to worry about paying anything upfront was the biggest relief for me,” said Archana. This holiday season we’ve partnered with Tori Wesszer of Fraiche Living on a holiday home and entertaining collection, marking our first influencer collaboration on a décor line! We sat down with our in-house private brand designers Helia A. and Andrea Moody to learn more about how they worked with Tori to bring the collection to life.? “We looked at macro holiday trends for the season, made decisions on the colours and patterns and then introduced Tori’s personal touches – she gravitated towards the bows and the laurel wreaths you see on the product,” says Andrea.? We’re committed to providing accessible, affordable and personalized healthcare services to the people in the communities we serve. ?? November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and we’re hosting Wellness Day events at our pharmacies across Canada (excluding Quebec) focused on resources for diabetes patients.? On Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (local time), Walmart pharmacists will be available to discuss diabetes care, management, and prevention.? Pharmacists can also provide free blood pressure screenings, blood glucose screenings, and one-on-one diabetes consultations. Walmart opticians will also be providing free self-assessments for eye health.? ? Last week, we welcomed global Walmart Tech leaders to our head office in Mississauga!? Suresh Kumar, EVP, CTO and CDO of Walmart Inc., Tim Simmons, SVP and Chief Product Officer of Walmart International, and Vinod Bidarkoppa, EVP and CTO of Walmart International, spoke to our associates at a town hall event along with Walmart Canada President and CEO Gonzalo Gebara and our CTO Michon Williams.? The group spoke about how we’re leaning into being a people-led, tech-powered, omnichannel retailer.? Our technology strategy always starts with the customer, Suresh said. We first work to understand how we can best serve our customers, then use technology to offer them a great shopping experience. This is just one example of how we keep people at the heart of our business.?
