The WMCBA has a proud history of service and accomplishment, both to the public and to the profession.

The Waco-McLennan County Bar Association (WMCBA) was organized in the late 1930s and has a history of service to the public and to the profession. Included among its members have been many notable national, state, and local government leaders, educators, jurists, and practitioners. WMCBA coordinates local bar efforts and gives members a forum to come together in a variety of settings. There are currently over 400 members. WMCBA provides continuing legal education at monthly luncheons and publishes an annual directory of members. WMCBA assists with McLennan County Adoption Day, the McLennan County Dispute Resolution Center, the People’s Law School, and other programs benefitting the public. Past WMCBA Presidents include: John Maxwell (1937-1938 term), the first president of WMCBA. Abner V. McCall (1955-1956 term), Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, Dean of the Baylor University School of Law, and President of Baylor University. William S. Sessions (1967-1968 term), FBI Director and U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas.
