Noel spent 44 years poking rivets in shims in a program designed to help people with disabilities develop their workplace skills. When this program shifted gears, he found himself left without the support he depended on and looked to Wabash Center for guidance. Through our Pre-Vocational Program, Noel has developed his soft skills to better prepare him for a new career. Despite being nervous about still needing additional support in the workplace, he felt confident enough with his newfound skills to push beyond his comfort zone and sought work in his community. Today, he is thriving in his part-time role at a local restaurant. When you support Wabash Center, you open doors to employment so people like Noel can live LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS. Karson is such a great human. He brightens my day when our paths cross. His quiet strength is inspirational. #wabashcenter #LifeWithoutLimits
Karson is a natural leader, and he is flexing his skills as Vice President of the Tippecanoe County Self-Advocates chapter at Wabash Center. Karson and his peers are showing Greater Lafayette that all people, including people with disabilities, deserve equal rights, respect, and inclusion in our communities. They are part of a statewide network of people with disabilities showing Indiana what’s possible when we set stigma aside and empower people to live LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS. With leaders like Karson, we can break down barriers and build a community that embraces all abilities. Will you join Karson and his fellow self advocates as a champion for inclusion? Edith is a vibrant child who also happens to communicate without speaking. When young children like Edith cannot or do not speak, they can become frustrated with the world around them and feel isolated. Edith came to SOAR last year, and she is learning to communicate with cards that illustrate her wants and needs. These small photos make a huge difference in Edith’s day because now she can show someone what she needs. Your gift to Wabash Center will help Edith continue to learn and grow. Help Edith’s voice be heard and donate at the link below ?? https://lnkd.in/evudCTWx

Congratulations to our newest employee of the month: Megan McDuffie! ?? Megan began working with Wabash Center as a seasonal DSP at Camp #54, and transitioned to a full-time DSP position in our Day Services program. When asked what led her to start working in the disability services field, Megan credits her cousin with IDD as an inspiration. "He's like the sun," she says. "He lights up the room as he walks in." And just like her cousin, Megan speaks highly of the individuals she works with at Day Services. They are her favorite part of working at Wabash Center, and in her words, "manage to get your hopes up even on your worst days and see the world as something different." To join Megan and the rest of our award-winning team, browse open positions and apply online at https://lnkd.in/enn_MHNc.

Meet Alice, one of our Supported Living DSPs. Alice has been with Wabash Center for seven years, and tells us that her favorite part of her job is the people- both the individuals in the home she works at, and her coworkers. "You get more from individuals that what you give them" she says. Her mother, a special education teacher, taught her from a young age that this line of work is more than just a job- it requires special people that are patient, nurturing, and dedicated. Supported Living DSPs are a crucial piece of our mission, ensuring that people of all abilities have a safe and affordable place to live at any age. To join our award-winning team and make a difference like Alice, apply today at https://loom.ly/0_8NFVY.
