Doug Price is one of the most genuine & gifted content creator/brand production pro i have come across. You should hire him ([email protected]). I crossed path with Doug a year ago or so as he had started a passion project - a podcast (www.theagavesocialclub.com) + social media channels (@agavesocialclub on ig) - with the goal of providing in depth, unbiased, agave-centric information to anyone who would be interested. I turns out Doug has a natural gift for putting together stunning videos and he quickly made a name for himself, travelling back and forth to Mexico helping out distilleries put their message out. He published this very kind review today, which i am proud to share.

Some solid recognition this month from the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC): A global panel of judges awarded three of our cocktails 90+ points, including a Gold Medal 97 point for Bar Diver White Russian, the HIGHEST RATING IN THE WORLD awarded to an RTD. MOCK & ROLL. Nielsen Data shows that over 82 percent of people who purchase non-alcoholic beverages also buy alcoholic ones. Significant. An eye opener. The big opportunity in non-alcoholic beverages is not sobriety. The big opportunity is moderation. We launched Bar Diver Mocktails so that sober drinkers - those who don't drink alcohol, and more importantly those who are not drinking alcohol at the moment - can enjoy the same celebratory experience that an alcoholic cocktail drinker enjoys, in a spirit-free medium. An exclusive focus on sobriety is too limiting for real scale. The opportunity is bigger when you include cross-over of alcohol drinkers who practice some level of moderation – from Drayanuary, to Sober October, to simply reducing alcohol consumption sporadically – drinking less during an evening for responsible driving concerns or reducing weekly alcohol consumption for wellness reasons, etc. NO ALCOHOL. 0% ALCOHOL. 100% COCKTAIL. My daughter is gluten intolerant. And she doesn’t drink alcohol. I have many friends that share her experience. They feel that their lives are spent in deep consideration as to what they can and can’t eat or drink. That they miss out a lot in terms of an effortless relationship with food and drink that most people enjoy easily. They would like more joy in terms of cuisine, and beverages, at home or going out. They don’t want to feel excluded and would like to be catered to with genuine, natural enthusiasm. We launched Bar Diver Mocktails so that sober drinkers could enjoy the same celebratory experience that an alcoholic cocktail drinker enjoys, in a spirit-free medium. We found that the biggest dissonance related to price – “I really don’t want an expensive soda” (and feeling faintly exploited) and confusion; what is it? – “I want a real cocktail, without the booze”. Consumers like the word “Mocktail” – it’s easily understood and appreciated as a cocktail without alcohol. The shorthand is helpful, and in no way diminishes the cocktail projection. Zero Proof and Spirit-Free are helpful, and we use the words liberally. But it’s not shorthand, and consumers don’t really talk that way in real life, so we proudly call our zero proof, spirit-free, non-alcoholic cocktails – Mocktails. Unpretentious, consumer-speak. It’s simple human, and that’s who buy our products, and how they feel comfortable asking for them. We are a specialist bar quality bottled cocktail company. We make cocktails. Our mocktails are no different – the ambition is to deliver a Negroni, Margarita, Mai Tai, G&T, or Grapefruit Daiquiri that is familiar to the heritage spirit-based cocktail, so the sober drinker can enjoy the same libation experience and quality that their friends do when they drink a spirit-based cocktail. Same flavor, same aromatics, same glassware, same garnish. Inclusive, not exclusive. There’s a vague tribal notion that there is a separation of non-alcoholic drinkers from alcohol drinkers. This is not true, moderation and considered temperance is not exclusive. There is a cross-over of alcohol drinkers who practice some level of moderation – from Drayanuary, to Sober October, to simply reducing alcohol consumption sporadically – drinking less during an evening for responsible driving concerns, reducing weekly alcohol consumption for wellness reasons, or the basic “I’ve had enough booze for one evening”. Bar Diver Mocktails slot seamlessly into that consumption ritual. Inclusive, not exclusive. We cast no aspersions to other products and strategies, there are some fabulous non-alcoholic products out there. We are a singular cocktail company. The consumer gets what they expect, they understand what to expect, and we hope to meet and exceed their expectations. The ”mocktail” concept is not new. In 1862, Jerry Thomas in his seminal book, The Bar-Tender’s Guide, listed 15 “Temperance Drinks”. NO ALCOHOL. NO COMPROMISE.
