When I'm editing a YouTube video with retention in mind, I think of it as a Jenga tower. A first cut is a solid start, but there's always room for improvement - my job is to trim away pieces delicately and intentionally, including repetition and unnecessary information, while keeping the core story structure intact. I learned this analogy while writing for academia, but it's especially relevant in the YouTube world.
