The number of approved mortgages in Detroit skyrocketed from 200 in 2012 to 3,600 in 2023, signaling a growing commitment to neighborhoods and investment in the city’s future. But there’s still important work to be done. While Black homeownership is rising in Detroit, mortgage denial rates remain disproportionate, highlighting the ongoing need for equitable access to homeownership.
