February is Entrepreneurship Month in Vermont, and the entrepreneurial spirit is thriving at Mt. Abe High School in Bristol. As part of a statewide initiative to promote entrepreneurship in high schools, local entrepreneurs have generously volunteered their time to speak with students. On Monday, February 10, panelists Maureen Deppman, Jacob Freedman, and Maura Donnelly spoke with Scott Beckwith's Economics class. Maureen works at the school and has a thrift shop on the side, Jacob is the owner of Treeline, and Maura is the owner of Simon Says toy store in Bristol. Each shared their startup journey, challenges, successes, and how they create value for their customers. The timing couldn’t have been better—these students are about to launch their own micro-businesses as part of a school project, with all profits going toward a meaningful cause in their community.
