As a company that is female-founded and female-led... what an event to be a part of! #WomensHistoryMonth ?

Women in sports ?? Women are sports For #WomensHistoryMonth, women from the Minnesota pro sports teams gathered virtually to reflect, connect, and reimagine how we can move as #OneMN. ? Anne Sempowski Ward reminded us that when we open the door to opportunity, it becomes our responsibility to bring other women along with us. ? Rebekkah Lamar Brunson emphasized the power of recognizing our worth, speaking grace and positivity into ourselves—because if we don’t celebrate ourselves first, who will? ? Teresa Resch reflected on her journey, inspiring us to use our voices—even if they shake. Confidence isn’t about always being fearless; it’s about showing up and standing firm in our purpose. A huge thank you to Anne Doepner, Bianca Monique Dawkins, our MN planning committee, and VRTL for leading and fostering a space where our collective power as women in sports is not just acknowledged, but amplified and appreciated. We are not just participants in sports—we are sports. And together, we redefine the game.

We love working with Chloe Tong and the team at QPR FC activating virtual meet and greets for their young fans on the VRTL Platform! Last week's event boasted an 87% attrition rate. The next generation fans brought some hard questions for goal keeper, Paul Nardi - but it was smiles all around! ? #sportstech #fanengagement

Marketing and Supporter Services Intern at QPR Football Club

THIS WEEK AT QPR ???? Following a very busy week at QPR, I would like to reflect on a few things that we have been doing recently. ?? It started with a brilliant 4-0 victory over Derby County on Friday evening, where the winners of the Xtra Maintenance mascot package from our 12 days of Christmas promotion were able to experience an evening under the lights at Loftus Road with their favourite players. ?? We have also recently been looking at various marketing initiatives to promote our new signing, Yang Min-Hyeok from South Korea, in which we have released a Korean nameset for fans to get Yang’s name in Korean on their shirts. ?? Wednesday saw us host our player signing session at John Lewis & Partners, where we had over 500 people attend to get signatures, photos and chat with our mens first team and QPR FC Women’s team. This was a very successful event and thoroughly enjoyable to be a part of. ?? The following day, we held a Junior Hoops VRTL signing session with first team goalkeeper Paul Nardi. This was a great way for young fans to interact with a first team player and to come away with a virtual signature and photo with Paul. ?? Finally, to end a busy week, I spent the afternoon in sunny Portsmouth to watch our fixture against Pompey. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been provided with at QPR FC and I am extremely excited for what the rest of the season and coming months have in store!

Founder & CEO at VRTL | Techstars '22

All week I’ve been telling myself to imagine the excitement that 23-year old, USF Grad Student, and OAKLAND Raiders intern-Courtney would have had, knowing 20 years later she’d be on stage during Super Bowl week in New Orleans, representing her own company, a start-up trying to convince the entire sports industry they can reach fans better, at the #NFLPAPitchDay competition, AND WINNING IT. (Bonus imagery being a selfless and incredibly loving and supportive husband Bernal Cartin at home, taking care of our beautiful young children, so that I can chase the dream). This was truly AMAZING. What does it mean for VRTL to win? Validation. Credibility. Momentum. Female-Founder Recognition. We are a small but mighty team, and believe unequivocally that our platform is the missing link for the sports and entertainment industry’s long overdue need to change how brands engage the global fanbase. And thanks to the NFL Players Association - we had a mic and a stage and an audience to convince the industry that we are right. Cary Grossart Jamie Grant Lindsay Schattenstein CMP, CSEP Kasidee Karsten Michael Adams Luke Cameron and Matthew Curtin - you are such an impressive team and organization, in literally every way. THANK YOU for a game-changing opportunity and all of your hard work to execute an outstanding event that will propel VRTL to the next level. Cannot wait to see what VRTL and the NFLPA can do together. Special shoutouts to the VRTL cheer section - led by Jen Fry, PhD (she/her), and to Kati Fernandez for my pregame hype (you both are absolutely the best). Here’s to what’s next for VRTL … LFG! Founder at Sports Loft

On this week’s Sports Loft podcast, Andy Selby and I are joined by VRTL’s CEO and Founder Courtney Jeffries. For many sports teams, the vast majority of fan engagement initiatives remain in-venue and matchday focused, so we discuss the opportunity to unlock significant revenue by increasing engagement with fans on non-matchdays, or those fans who can’t attend the games. Working with teams across the?NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS and Premier League to name but a few, VRTL enables teams to offer a programme of virtual experiences to fans on a global scale. My key takeaways from the conversation: It has to feel special.?Fans’ expectations of virtual events have increased since the?pandemic. It can’t feel like a generic zoom call – it?has to be memorable – so a “one size fits all” approach doesn’t cut it. Making club memberships relevant for international fans. Due to their traditional emphasis on tickets, club memberships have delivered little value to?a global fanbase. However, by delivering virtual experiences that fans actually want to join – for example, hosting player Q&A’s in their local language and virtual autograph sessions with fans from that player’s country - this creates a genuine reason for international fans?to become members and provides valuable data capture for the club. Doing more for season ticket holders.?Teams are?using VRTL to create unique experiences for season ticket holders on non-matchdays. For example, Atlanta Falcons host a monthly event for season ticket holders who have a birthday that month, whilst the Minnesota Vikings used the platform to launch a throwback jersey by inviting season ticket holders to get to see it first, with a team legend from the jersey’s era joining the event. Versatility and scale are important.?Teams?want to be able to use the same platform to deliver different types of event formats (eg bringing fans on-stage or live autograph signings) and to be able to do so at scale - ie?for 10?fans?one day?and 10,000 fans the next. Everyone loves an autograph.?70% of events are using VRTL’s virtual signing functionality in some capacity. One team is exploring making the autographs serialised, so that the signature is 1 of 500 – making it unique to each fan. Other clients are looking to enable fans to upload their own images to sign. Creating experiences that can only be done virtually.?An F1 team is looking at hosting events for race engineers to engage with hardcore fans. This would not be practical in person, but doing so virtually, creates a scalable asset that would not have existed otherwise. Links to listen on Apple and Spotify in the comments below ...
