I wrote about one of the leading assessments of wildlife declines —?WWF's Living Planet Report. The latest installment is out now, just ahead of #COP16. The headline number is shocking: The average size of wildlife populations worldwide has shrunk by 73 percent in the last 50 years. That number underscores the scale of #biodiversity loss —?a serious crisis and a potent threat to human communities. Yet several scientists told me they don't trust it. This number, they said, may be grossly exaggerated, due to mathematical issues with how it's calculated.
