Where were you in 1975? ???? Fire up the time machine, we’re going back to 1975. The Godfather part II won six academy awards, the world was introduced to Betamax & VHS. Microsoft was founded, and apparently Votaw bought this GE buss tap! ?? I’m not sure this is something to be proud of or embarrassed by? ???? Recently we’ve been doing some reorganizing & housekeeping in our warehouse and apparently we unearthed this time capsule that has been tucked away waiting to emerge. A brand new GE 100amp 600v buss tap still in its original box. ??♂? It still has all the original shipping labels, PO, and postage dated June 25, 1975 from Kendall Electric on North Clinton Ft. Wayne, IN. Someone asked if we could return it for credit, not likely…?? “HARDWIRED TO CARE” 2024 Habitat For Humanity ?? On Monday, a crew from Votaw Electric was incredibly blessed to wire our first house for Habitat for Humanity Greater Ft Wayne. We feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to share our time, talents, and skills with such an amazing organization that helps the good people of our community have something that many of us take for granted a house to call home. After many months of conversations and anticipation, the day for action finally came and we hit the ground running. Thanks to our fantastic team of electricians, we were able to complete the wiring in just one day. Happy Birthday Votaw Electric! ?? ?? We are celebrating 56yrs today, and we think that we still look pretty good for our age! ???? We’ve been serving the Fort Wayne area now for the last 56yrs, Votaw Electric was originally Votaw & Sons Electric, Inc. and was incorporated this day in 1968 by James Votaw. He began performing small residential installations with a used truck, a small office in his garage, and plenty of help from his wife Peggy. In the years to follow their three sons Dan, Mike, and Tom naturally joined the family business. Jim bought their first shop in 1978 a humble former utility building behind Northwood shopping center and the rest is an electricfying history. ?? Some years later the company became Votaw Electric, moved into their current location in 97’ and we’ve continued to grow through the years and now are roughly 150 employees. In 2010 the Votaw brothers began the transition of selling the company to its employees and as of 2022 we are 100% Employee-Owned. ?????? Even at 56yrs, we still feel young and are ever excited about what the future holds for this company. Everyday we we strive to value the good people of this company and our incredible customers & partners that provide us with opportunities to serve them. We have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams over the last 56yrs, and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 56yrs! Happy EOM!!! ?? What is EOM? I’m glad you asked, October is Employee Ownership Month and we are celebrating our employee owners all month long! To kick off EOM, we unveiled our new ESOP Wall of Ownership. We resurfaced the adjacent wall running alongside our main employee entrance just inside our warehouse with aluminum sheeting, with the intent that all of our employees that are 100% vested in our ESOP could design their own personal avatar or Bitmoji sticker and place it on the Wall of Ownership. This will give us the opportunity to do something fun, celebrtory, and personal when future employees hit that milestone of being 100% vested. ?????? Out of our 155 employees, 60+ are fully vested employee owners. We greatly appreciate each and everyone of them, and look forward to seeing many more fun faces on our Wall of Ownership in the future! Last week we hosted our annual free health screening to emphasize our commitment to the health and wellness of our employee owners.
