Happy Native American Heritage Month! Today, we're spotlighting Dr. Everett R. Rhoades, a member of the Kiowa Tribe and a leader in Native American healthcare. As the first Native American to head the Indian Health Service, Dr. Rhoades transformed the landscape of Indigenous healthcare through unprecedented growth, tripling the IHS budget and building six new hospitals. With an impact extends beyond administration, he also founded the Association of American Indian Physicians to support Native voices in medicine and continues to advocate for Native health on the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic board. With over 100 scientific publications, Dr. Rhoades’ legacy is a testament to his lifelong commitment to the health and well-being of Native communities. #VotER #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #HealthLeadership #CivicEngagement #Oklahoma #Kiowa

This Native American Heritage Month, we honor the influential Native voices shaping health and democracy. Today, we're excited to highlight Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord. The first Navajo woman to be board-certified as a surgeon, Dr. Alvord exemplifies the powerful blend of traditional Navajo healing and Western medicine. After graduating from Stanford, Dr. Alvord returned to New Mexico to serve Navajo patients. Her approach is rooted in cultural sensitivity and prioritizes patient-centered care. She advocates for hospital environments that support healing through relationships and access to nature. Join us in celebrating her work and the remarkable impact of Native leaders committed to community well-being. #VotER #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #Navajo #Stanford #NewMexico

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich cultures, histories, and influence of Native communities across the U.S. Throughout November, we’re excited to spotlight inspiring leaders at the intersection of health and democracy within Native communities. While these stories can’t capture the full richness and diversity of Native experiences, they reflect the resilience, dedication, and commitment to well-being that so many Native leaders bring to their communities every day. Join us as we celebrate their impactful work and amplify the voices driving health and democracy forward. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #HonorNativeVoices #HealthAndDemocracy

Together, we can create a healthier democracy. This October through Election Day, we had ? 9 TIMES ? the voter readiness impact compared to the same month in 2022. We have broken our own records, pushed ourselves as a movement, and built processes and systems that will last us far into the future. We are grateful. Thank you. We are honored and proud of our growing community and the work we have done together this year.

Latino voters often face significantly more barriers to voting. When communities experience increased barriers to voting, they are excluded from the opportunity to influence policies that could close health disparity gaps. Advocating for increased access to voting for all eligible voters, particularly communities facing additional barriers, is a critical step toward a more equitable democracy. New research from National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) examines how these challenges affect both patients AND healthcare providers. Ready to help break down these barriers?
