Just had my 28th exit - an early angel investment in Jackpocket through Gaingels. Bought by my very close friends at DraftKings Inc. It just takes time! No start-up exit (like wine) before its time!

Attention Entrepreneurs - As I have been sharing with many entrepreneurs this is the worst VC environment I have seen since my first VC investment over 30 years ago. https://lnkd.in/g2BJAGXG

Techtalia '24 in Florence, Italy was a huge success. Kudos to founder and operator, Gabriel Schillinger. One of our many great talks at the conference was an interview I conducted with John Riccitiello, former CEO of Electronic Arts (EA) and Unity and the new owner of Gratz Pilates! Thanks, John.

Thanks to Goldman Sachs for inviting me for the 14th year to present at their Communacopia and Technology Conference. I presented consumer research in the US regarding traditional media use, major trends in digital media and entertainment, a bit of gaming, and even a quick look at crypto. If you would like a copy of the deck please contact me.

DON'T STAY AT THE Grand Hotel Oslo. NOT SO GRAND. This was the WORST experience I have ever had (I have been travelling for over 50 years!) checking into a hotel. The entire front entrance of the hotel was blocked with taxis and empty cars (waiting for passengers I was told). Our Uber could not pull up to the hotel and we were dropped about 100 feet from the hotel.?One of us went into to get a bellman to help with our many bags (long trip) and it took at least 5 if not 10 mins to get someone to come take our bags.?Meanwhile, me and our bags were getting soaked by the rain.?No bellman, no umbrellas, no one cared.?Finally someone came to help and the Asst. Manager (Mark) was focused on the fact that he "had just come to work and didn't know what was happening" and had no help for us.?The Concierge finally came out and helped.?No one ever said they were sorry, and they wanted to paper this all over with a free drink.?If we are buying one of the top suites in the hotel we don't need a free drink.?We need SERVICE.?And most of the staff argued with us and defended themselves.?THIS IS NOT A PLACE WHERE THE GUEST IS OFTEN/ALWAYS RIGHT.?THIS IS A PLACE THAT WANTS TO ARGUE AND DEFEND THEMSELVES. Most of the people we met at this hotel, on the staff, should not be in hospitality.?Then we got the the suite and it was terrible. dirty rugs. you walk right into the bedroom, go up one floor to a sitting room and then a small dining table on the 3rd floor of the suite.?Also, no desk for me to work at.?SHOULDN'T THE BEDROOM BE ON THE TOP FLOOR AND YOU ENTER INTO THE LIVING ROOM? ALSO, THE DOOR TO THE SUITE SHOWED THAT IT WAS AN OLD SERVICE DOOR WITH METAL WHERE THE STAFF KICKS THE DOOR (LIKE IN A KITCHEN). It was such a bad room and such a bad hospitality experience that we MOVED HOTELS AT 9PM AT NIGHT! I have never done that BEFORE.? Now we are the Sommero House where the staff took our bags in 1-2 minutes and were super friendly, helpful and excellent hospitality folks. We had never heard of the Sommero just found it through Trip Advisor.?THE GRAND HOTEL NEEDS TO BECOME GRAND AGAIN. OR CALL THEMSELVES GRAND-ISH.?
