This week in the European Parliament, Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE, took part in a debate with policymakers on the upcoming revision of EU's public procurement directive. "We encourage policymakers to use well-functioning public procurement rules as a demand-side tool to drive the transformation in the construction sector. Experiences from Oslo and Stockholm demonstrate that public tenders are a powerful tool for enabling zero emission construction sites." Thank you to MEP Sara Matthieu for hosting and the team at European Forum for Manufacturing for organizing. The other speakers represented the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Climate Foundation, CECE, Eurocities, and others. #Changestartshere #electrification

Building the L120 Electric prototype through global collaboration ?? At Volvo CE, smart solutions and teamwork drive us forward. Our recent collaboration between teams in Sweden and China led to the successful assembly of the L120 Electric wheel loader prototype at the Arvika plant. “The L120 Electric had never been built at Arvika, and our team had no experience with the machine,” shares Erik Sundb?ck, Project Manager EMOB. “With the engineering team in Jinan on the other side of the world, we faced time zone and language challenges.” To overcome these, we used digital tools like virtual reality headsets—our first immersive assembly for a complete machine build—simulating high-volume production lines in our low volume area. Mikael Liljestrand, Head of Operations at Arvika, sums it up: “With speed, passion, and a winning mindset, our teams have proven how to collaborate effectively across continents."

It takes a team to deliver true success. ? Luna Safa, assembly team leader at Volvo CE in Eskilstuna, has helped bridge the gap between new and experienced team members by encouraging open dialogue.?? ? People leaving and new people coming in means challenges and knowledge gaps. Luna explains how an open dialogue has helped foster trust and respect in this difficult situation. Through daily 10-minute meetings, she encouraged the team to share knowledge and challenge assumptions.? ? "This improved our collaboration and created a positive environment where we were all working towards a common goal."? ? “Now, we no longer need to have these daily forums, but whenever we see our productivity slipping, we put the 10-minute meetings back on the agenda and we immediately feel strengthened and tighter as a group.”

From the Bolinder-Munktell LM 218 to the Volvo L350H: a legacy of innovation. In 1959, the LM 218 was a game changer. It wasn’t just another tractor but a wheel loader built from the ground up, gaining its now iconic yellow color. Despite its compact size, it outperformed larger machines with its powerful Bolinder engine and innovative lift arm system.? Fast forward to today, and our flagship L350H wheel loader takes things to the next level. Equipped with the latest tech, 532 horsepower, and designed for demanding jobs – whether it's mining, quarrying, or heavy infrastructure – the L350H is built to deliver.??
