Exciting news! This morning, we joined Mayor Craig Greenberg and the CEO of The Humana Foundation, Tiffany Benjamin, to announce a significant investment in Louisville’s Community Care Campus. The Humana Foundation is investing $3 million to support the development of the campus! Together, VOA, Humana Foundation, and Louisville Metro Government are tackling some of the most complex challenges facing our city. We’re thrilled about the progress of this important project. The campus will provide essential support to unhoused families in Louisville. We invite others to join us at the table, be a part of the solution, and invest in the Community Care Campus. We were honored to welcome the reigning Mrs. Tennessee, Celia Anzalone Bowers, to our Freedom House in Southeast KY! Celia, an author, nonprofit leader, and mother, shared her powerful journey of overcoming childhood trauma, addiction, and recovery with the moms in our program. She empowered the women we serve by reminding them that recovery is possible, and a brighter future is within reach. Thank you, Celia, for sharing your inspiring message of hope and resilience! #MrsTennessee #recoveryispossible #recoveryworks #breakingthecycleofaddiction #VOARecovery #nonprofit

Yesterday, our VOA teams in Louisville and Southeast Kentucky came together with community partners across the Commonwealth to advocate for recovery at the state capital! We are proud to stand alongside so many incredible people who are working hard to create a healthier Kentucky. And we were thrilled to celebrate four counties for their efforts in supporting Kentuckians struggling with substance use disorder. Yesterday, Calloway, Daviess, Fayette, and Pulaski Counites became certified Recovery Ready Communities (RRC)! They’ve taken major steps to ensure residents who are battling substance use disorder have access to the resources they need. They are officially part of the 18 Kentucky counties who are RRC certified! Congratulations to all! Thank you for leading the way in building brighter futures for all Kentuckians! #RecoveryMonth #recoveryispossible #recoveryreadycommunities #TeamKentucky

?? Alumni Spotlight: Lucinda ?? For #RecoveryMonth, we are recognizing our incredible VOA Recovery graduates in our Alumni Spotlight Series. Lucinda graduated from Freedom House, VOA’s recovery program for pregnant and parenting women, in May 2024. While at VOA, she worked on healing from trauma and things she went through during active addiction, created a healthy routine, and met lifelong friends. Her favorite part was that her daughter got to stay with her during treatment at Freedom House. To those still in active addiction, Lucinda wants to share this encouragement: “Your life is worth so much more than the lifestyle and the emotional turmoil that comes with drug addiction. It’s never too late to try a better way!” Join us in celebrating Lucinda and all she’s accomplished in recovery! #VOAAlumni #VOARecovery #FreedomHouse #recoveryispossible #recoveryworks

Last week, members of our Board of Directors visited VOA Recovery Community Center in Manchester, KY and celebrated the 5-year anniversary of the program at our open house! During their visit, they also toured Freedom House, our residential recovery program for pregnant and parenting women, and our transitional sober living home for graduates of the recovery program. These programs provide critical support throughout an individual’s recovery journey, helping them sustain sobriety. Our board also attended a powerful panel discussion at EKU Manchester Campus. Speakers included VOA Mid-States President & CEO, Jennifer Hancock; Chief Medical Officer, AdventHealth Manchester, Dr. Anita Cornett; VOA Mid-States Senior Director of Rural Addiction Recovery Services, Stephanie Hoskins LCADC, LPCC, CCS; Deann Allen; Franklin Stivers; Mayor of Corbin, Kentucky, Suzie Razmus; and Senate President Robert Stivers. The group discussed VOA’s impact in Southeast Kentucky and the value of partnerships in driving community progress. We’re proud of the difference our programs and collaborations are making in this region! #VOARecovery #communitypartners #creatinglastingchange

Last week, our VOA Community teams across Tennessee and Clark and Floyd Counties in Indiana celebrated our incredible Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)! We hosted pizza parties, enjoyed Taco Tuesday, and gave out tons of prizes and awards to recognize the compassion, care, and commitment our DSPs bring to the people we serve. We could not do this work without them, and we are truly grateful for everything they do! Thank you, DSPs, for making a difference every day. #DSPWeek #DSP #Grateful #VOACommunity #DDServices #nonprofit

Yesterday, we welcomed members of our Board of Directors, Clay County community leaders, and the public to the VOA Recovery Community Center (RCC) in Manchester to celebrate our 5-year anniversary! Since opening in September 2019, more than 800 individuals have found support, fellowship, and resources at RCC. At the open house, guests learned about the impact of the program from our Program Manager, Walter Mullins, and had the opportunity to hear the inspiring recovery journey of one of our very first members, Wesley Wagers. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey and continues to support our mission of helping individuals in recovery thrive. Together, we are building a stronger, more supportive community! #recoverycommunity #recoveryispossible #recoveryworks #supportsystem #recoverysupport #VOARecovery #nonprofit
