? Modular FAQ Time ? We asked VBC’s Chief Commercial Officer Dave Fetzer one of the most common questions we get in the industry: Is modular less expensive than site built? The answer isn’t as simple as yes or no—it depends on factors like market, design, and location. Dave breaks it down in this video. What has our Vice President of Construction learned after being involved in the installation of over 3,000 modules? A lot, obviously! Construction is all about the details—miss one, and it can cost time, money, and quality. Rob Schmalbach shares five critical lessons he’s learned: ?? Coordinating design upfront to prevent costly delays ?? Addressing scope gaps before they become issues ?? Mitigating water intrusion risks ?? Mastering the logistics of modular installation ?? Selecting the right general contractor for the job Watch the video to learn how experience shapes better builds! #BuildingTheFuture #ModularInsights #ModularInnovations #FactoryInsights

At all of VBC's factories, we’re constantly striving for improvement, and we track KPIs obsessively. Throughput is one of the most critical metrics for any factory. But numbers only improve when the people behind them show up, day in and day out, with commitment, reliability, and teamwork. No one embodies that better than Oliver Ayendi Garcia Castillo, who has shown up every single day since he was hired, except for a short leave to bond with his new baby. Consistency builds momentum. Dedication fuels progress. And people like Oliver make VBC what it is. ?????? Here’s to the ones who keep the wheels turning. Reliability is a skill, and Oliver is a master at it. ?? #Commitment #Manufacturing #Teamwork #VBC #Reliability #PeopleMakeTheDifference

If you need a pick-me-up today, here’s a good one for you. ? Maria Jose started as a cleaner, working along side her mom, Judith. (We shared her story earlier this week.) She transitioned to mudding on the factory floor. All the supervisors were quick to point out how good she was at mudding because she was clean and meticulous. She picked it up so quickly, now she's become one of the trainers. ??♀? Maria Jose, is emblematic of what's possible with hard work and a little grit and we're very grateful for everything she and the other amazing VBC employees bring to the factory every day. ?? P.S. Have you ever had a mentor or teammate who helped you level up? Tag them in the comments!

Earlier this week we posted about a homeless encampment in San Jose that caused a lot of headaches. Today, just two years later, on that same land there's transitional housing for 180 adults and 25 families. Here are the finished photos. Huge shout out to LifeMoves who carried the ambition, passion, and dedication to bring much needed change. We're thrilled to be apart of this success.
Thank you to Vaughan Buckley and the Volumetric Building Companies team for your work on LifeMoves Branham Lane. We appreciate your efforts in making this project a reality! #lifemoves #lifemovesorg #boldpossibilities #webelieve #changemakers

Meet Misael and Emanuel, affectionately known as the Chiquitins Brothers ??♂???♂? They started at VBC wrapping finished modules in waterproof sheeting, one of those essential but often overlooked jobs that keep a factory running smoothly. From day one, every supervisor praised their work ethic and eagerness to learn. So when VBC ramped up production and needed more electricians, the brothers didn’t wait for an opportunity, they raised their hands. Rather than hiring externally, VBC invested in them, and now they’re three months into electrician training, proving that initiative and hard work open doors. The best talent isn’t always found, it’s grown. ???? Here's to the folks working tirelessly and bringing their best self to work! They are what make VBC a special place to work. ?? ??

Meet Jair. Three years ago, he was a framer. Today? He oversees the maintenance of a $10,000,000 machine. (Yes. That’s a lot of zeros.) Jair started by training on how to use the Auto Wall machine, working that station for over a year. Then, he took a leap into maintenance. This wasn't an easy or simple transition. The machine was manufactured in Sweden and it’s critical to production at VBC. If anything went down, he had to navigate time zones just to get answers. Fast forward to today.... Jair isn’t just maintaining the machine, he’s owning his role with confidence. His advice to operators? ?? “Treat it like it’s something special. Like your prized car.” ?? Shoutout to Jair for his dedication, growth, and grit. He’s one of the many people at VBC driving our success, a reminder of what’s possible when you push beyond your comfort zone. Here’s to the people behind the homes we create. ??

Behind the Buildings: The Hardworking Folks Behind VBC's Success ??? ?? At VBC, our success isn’t just measured by the homes we build. It’s defined by the people who bring these buildings to life. This week, we’ll be sharing some of their stories. Meet Judith. A year ago, Judith was working as a cleaner at VBC. She was dedicated, reliable, and always had a smile on her face. One day in passing she expressed her interest in learning a construction trade. ? Fast forward to today, Judith is thriving on our factory floor in the painting division. But it doesn’t stop there. Her determination didn’t just change her life, it changed her family’s too. Both of her daughters now work at VBC: one in mudding, the other in painting. (more on that later this week!) Judith’s story is a testament to what hard work and perseverance can achieve. She and her daughters are part of what makes VBC more than just a modular company. ? Here’s to the people behind the homes we create. ?? #VBC #BehindTheScenes #Manufacturing #CareerGrowth #PeopleFirst #BuildingTheFuture

Two years ago there was a homeless encampment in San Jose that caused a lot of headaches -- fires, trash, noise complaints were constant. Today, just two years later, on that same land there's transitional housing for 180 adults and 25 families. It's expected that over the next 50 years this facility will help 160,000 people get back on their feet and transition back into a stable and safe home. VBC provided the modular construction for this project, which features not only residential living spaces, but community gathering places, clinics, therapy rooms, offices, and even a communal dining area. When we say we're Building the Future and Changing Lives we really mean it. It takes real leadership and community to bring a vision like this to life. We're grateful to our partners and leaders at California Department of Housing & Community Development, LifeMoves, The Sobrato Organization, Sam Liccardo, and Matt Mahan. Our sincerest hope is that this can serve as a proof of concept for a scalable adaptable approach to help our most vulnerable communities. In fact, we're already working with Life Moves on the next project. From dirt to dignity. ?? Like if you'd like to see more projects like this in California!

Modular speed in action! The Chapel Block project in Philadelphia is well underway. The coolest part is that an identical project is being built right next to it with traditional construction. We’ll be able to get a real life comparison of how much faster modular can finish a project.?Stay tuned! #BuildingTheFuture #ModuleSet #InnovativeConstruction #ModularManufacturing
