This new advanced demand response offering allows our customers to better manage electricity within their facilities, accrue previously untapped energy cost-savings, open new revenue streams, and strengthen the reliability of the electric grid.   Our commercial and industrial customers will be able to better manage electricity usage within their facilities, shifting consumption automatically based on grid conditions, electricity prices, and grid emissions levels. Many thanks to the White House Climate Policy Office and the Council of Environmental Quality for bringing this group of energy leaders together this week to discuss the acceleration of #virtualpowerplant (VPP) participation from Federal Buildings. There was clear alignment from representatives from the United States Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and GSA on the pronounced economic, reliability, and sustainability benefits of #VPPs and receptivity to learning from the private sector on how to onboard thousands of government owned and operated buildings and defense installations at scale. Voltus is poised to use our experience managing over 7 GW of #demandresponse and #distributedenergyresources to assist in this effort and looks forward to further collaboration!

"We can get the electricity we need without frying our planet" said the The New York Times a few months back. But...can we get the data we need to make the economics work? Certain obstacles to the #energytransition are more obvious than others, and sometimes it's the boring-seeming ones that are the most important to bring to light. Namely: one of the more significant (and most obscure) is the lack of access that consumers have to their own electricity consumption data — much less control over it. This is especially true for residential customers where installing third party metering is cost prohibitive. While many wouldn't think twice about this, it's critical to the deployment of #VPPs. The good news is we have the technology to liberate the data, give consumers greater discretion over their energy costs, and stand-up the resources needed to deliver the 21st century grid. But regulatory policy still needs to catch up.
