We are proud to have once again welcomed local students onsite for the Chattanooga Green Prix! Special thanks to green|spaces for organizing this fantastic opportunity for the next generation of critical thinkers and problem solvers to put their electric vehicles to the test. This student-led competition to design, assemble, and race electric vehicles was held right here at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga assembly plant, with more than 200 students from local elementary, middle and high schools participating. It’s all A’s for the three Chattanooga assembled vehicles! The Volkswagen ID.4, Atlas, and Atlas Cross Sport are named to Cars.com’s 2024 Best Cars for Car Seats. Only six vehicles out of 52 evaluated earned top honors with VW having the most cars on the 2024 list. For a vehicle to achieve an ‘A’ rating, the vehicle must have sufficient room for the child and car seat, but not impact legroom for the driver or front passenger. The vehicle’s car seat Latch system also must be conveniently accessible and easy to use.

Last week, we passed a major milestone – we have assembled more than 100,000 vehicles this year! Thank you to everyone at the plant for contributing to this achievement. We continue to grow stronger as a team, and this benchmark could not have been reached without the collective effort of the whole team.?

The Chattanooga-made Volkswagen ID.4 received another recognition this week as Cars.com’s third most American-made vehicle for 2024. This is a three-spot jump from last year’s sixth place ranking. Cars.com evaluated more than 400 vehicles to get this year's list of 100 vehicles that contribute the most to the U.S. economy in manufacturing, parts sourcing, and employment. All ID.4 models sold in the U.S. have been assembled in Chattanooga, Tennessee since model year 2023.

What a start to National Safety Month! The Chattanooga-assembled ID.4 is named a TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This recognition puts all three Chattanooga-assembled vehicles on the agency’s 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK list. The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport were recognized earlier this year.?These awards identify the best vehicle choices for safety within size categories during a given year. Yesterday, June 2, Volkswagen of America celebrates the second annual International Volkswagen Bus Day, a?National Day Calendar-recognized holiday honoring the worldwide love for Volkswagen buses old and new. This year we celebrated in Chattanooga with the new fully electric ID.Buzz on display in front of the plant this past week. Employees were able to take an up close look at the new vehicle.
