A group of guide dog puppies from Hull and East Yorkshire have been exploring under the sea at The Deep in Hull. Alan, Odin, Shannon, Cooper, Mitch, Maple, Noah, Sherry and Elkie are training to be life-changing guide dogs and were invited to the aquarium earlier this week to help support their socialisation training ?? The pups enjoyed walking through the exhibits and navigating their tunnel, which sits underneath the 10-metre deep Endless Ocean habitat. Each pup was accompanied by their volunteer Puppy Raiser, who looks after them until they are just over a year old, before they move to a Guide Dogs’ centre to start their formal training. “We’d like to say a big thank you to The Deep for allowing our guide dog puppies to visit. As our pups grow and develop, it’s really important that they are exposed to different sights and sounds, so they grow up to become confident guide dogs. Case Report 4- Albinism and Ocular Findings in a 65-Year-Old Gentleman A 65-year-old gentleman presented with reduced vision and nystagmus. His visual acuity was 6/24 in the right eye and 3/60 in the left eye, as measured on the Snellen chart. Examination revealed a posterior subcapsular cataract in the left eye. The patient also exhibited horizontal nystagmus, a hallmark of albinism, which is often associated with poor visual acuity and photophobia. Fundus examination using a Volk lens showed foveal hypoplasia and reduced retinal pigmentation, classic signs of ocular albinism. These findings are consistent with the typical ocular manifestations of albinism, including nystagmus, poor visual acuity, and abnormal fundus pigmentation.
