For nearly 43 years, our Florida team operated out of our office on Drane Field Road in Lakeland. Growth over the years based on the trust of loyal customers, expanded customer base, and dedicated efforts of our employees created the need for expansion and a modern state-of-the-art facility located on South Pipkin Road in Lakeland. This new space allows us to improve our services, embrace new technologies and offer innovative solutions to our customers. It rewards our hard-working, dedicated employees, and it will attract the type of talent who shares the same values and beliefs. Congratulations to our Florida team on this exciting new chapter!

In 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that 40% of U.S. adults reported struggling with mental health or substance abuse — and 11% seriously considered suicide. The construction industry has one of the highest rates of suicide at 53.2 per 100,000 U.S. workers. That rate is four times greater than the national average and five times greater than all other construction fatalities combined. While there is a huge stigma surrounding mental health in the industry, Vogel Bros. is taking action to de-stigmatize this topic and cultivate a safe working environment where everyone can speak openly and honestly. As part of our ongoing safety trainings with staff, we are focusing on mental health discussions and providing the team with a Toolbox Talk to use during their crew huddles. We hope these efforts will reinforce the internal support network available at Vogel Bros. Building Co. and help to promote the health and well-being of every single team member.

Kicking us off in this special anniversary series is President and CEO Peter Vogel. Award-winning construction executive, selfless leader and visionary strategist — Pete Vogel dedicates his professional career to preserving the values and legacy of a company that bears his family name. As President and CEO of Vogel Bros., Pete plays an integral role in the construction of hundreds of facilities across southern Wisconsin and central Florida. His active role in projects and expertise in comprehensive planning, design and construction management services make him a valuable resource to a wide variety of industries, owners and team members. His commitment to continuous improvement shines through Pete's efforts to give back to his community. He supports several youth organizations, Dane County schools, scholarship programs, hospitals, community nonprofits and the United Way of Dane County. In addition, Pete has followed in his father David Vogel's footsteps and taken over the helm of School Supplies for Kids, an organization raising money for economically disadvantaged students in Dane County since 1993. Thank you, Pete, for being an excellent example of enduring professional credibility and personal integrity!

The FL team recently had Linder Industrial Machinery visit a few of our projects for equipment inspection and preventative maintenance refresher training. The focus of the discussion was our new Komatsu PC 360 LC Excavator and WA 320 Wheel Loader, along with a few existing pieces of Komatsu equipment. At Vogel Bros., taking care of our equipment is a key priority, as these are essential tools that allow our craftworkers to safely complete our projects and provide a clean water resource to the surrounding communities.

Our Florida team has completed P6 training! P6 is the leading scheduling management software that allows us to manage projects from start to finish using Critical Path Methodology. This powerful tool helps us build projects in the fastest possible way while accurately forecasting costs. It also enables us to track work activities and project costs, keeping everything on schedule. As the #1 scheduling software in the industry, P6 ensures we stay on track for major construction projects!

Congratulations to our project teams for earning an AGC Build Wisconsin Award for their exceptional work on the Oakwood Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Carnegie-Schadde Public Library.
