This #GlobalEducationWeek, we're celebrating the achievements of our initiatives that are using technology and connection to improve access to a quality education. ?? Currently operating across six countries, our #InstantNetworkSchools programme with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency has supported over 339,000 students, providing access to an online education for refugees and their host communities. ?? Over 7.5 million students across Europe have improved their digital skills and confidence, from coding to robotics and online safety, through our #SkillsUploadJr programmes. Our new website for Skills Upload Jr. is now live! ?? Since 2021, the programme has reached 7.5 million students and trained 600,000 teachers in Albania, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, Romania, Turkey and Spain. Through #SkillsUploadJr programmes like DigiCraft, CodingForTomorrow and GenerationNext, we are helping to reduce the digital divide across Europe. Young people are increasingly interacting with AI though apps like ChatGPT or via social media platform tools, but many are confused about navigating or trusting this fast-growing technology. ?? In response, we've launched ‘Me, Myself & AI’, a new campaign aimed at providing young people and educators across Europe with a trusted and entertaining source of information about AI. ?? The campaign being shared on TikTok and YouTube, often in partnership with high-profile influencers, features up to 60 short videos that offer practical tips and advice. One of these can be seen below. To date, it has already reached more than 12m views across the UK, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Albania and Romania. As our Instant Network Emergency Response (INER) team returns from Valencia, we're reflecting on the scale and speed of the work undertaken by our volunteers, helping those affected by the devastating floods to regain connectivity. Over the last 5 days, our international INER team have been providing wide ranging support, including: ?? Installing Instant Network Wi-Fi at the Medical Center in Paiporta ?? Deploying an IN WiFi hotspot at the Benetússer Local Police Headquarters to support coordination efforts for the fire rescue team ?? Installing high capacity WiFi to support the 112 Emergency Coordination Center in La Eliana Providing critical communication links in times of crisis remains as relevant and important as ever. Volunteers from Vodafone Foundation's Instant Network Emergency Response (INER) team are deploying to Valencia, in response to the flooding that has impacted the region. An international group of five Vodafone volunteers from Germany, UK, Netherlands and Spain, will set up a temporary emergency network for victims and aid workers in the affected area, using our Instant Network technology. Communication in the immediate aftermath of a disaster is key to support those affected, and to assist in the coordination of rescue and relief efforts. Our thoughts remain with the victims of the flooding and everyone affected by this tragedy. ?? This month marks the launch of our European SUJ Challenge, where students from across Europe will explore how digital technology can generate inclusion. ?? Part of our Skills Upload Jr programme, the SUJ challenge will see hundreds of students, aged between 6 and 19 years old, developing digital solutions to real-life, community-wide issues.
