关于我们

Voce (vō-chāy), which means voice, is a change agent. We use our voice, and empower you to use yours, to create positive, lasting change in people’s lives. We use our voice because we believe every person should belong and be empowered to thrive. Our agency (previously known as Family Design Resources) began in 1999 by pioneering a model that is nationally recognized for expediting adoptions and supporting families. Today, we provide consultation and training to agencies throughout the country in the areas of trauma and loss, adoption and permanency, diversity and inclusion, and individual and family well-being. Additionally, with our partner Diakon, we co-administer the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) program for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Voce is a member of the Adoption Exchange Association, Child Welfare League of America, North American Council on Adoptable Children, and Youth Collaboratory.

"I grew up in Southeast PA – right on the Montgomery/Bucks county border. Then, I moved up to Northeast PA for grad school at Marywood, which is also where I met my husband. Between the two, I actually like it a little better up here. I’m a pretty easy-going person, and I like the slower pace of life. I still drive like someone from Southeast PA though. I have three girls who are 10, 8, and 7 months, so my house is always full of activities. They’re very artistic kids. Right now, they love doing community theater, and it’s been a lot of fun for us as a family. I started working as a mobile therapist after getting my degree in clinical psych, which eventually led me to working in (and then supervising) the organization’s adoption unit doing SWAN services. I joined Voce as a technical assistant in 2018. I’ve always liked jobs with flexibility and that require different skillsets. I like that every day in my role is unique – I might do a training one day, then visit an affiliate the next, then solve a problem the day after that. I like the variety and the consistent challenge and learning opportunities. After work, I like to decompress with something relaxing, but still mentally stimulating. I’m a big puzzle person. I also love to read. Languages are so fascinating to me. I studied Spanish in college and now I’m learning a little Korean just for fun. Even in my down time, I like to be learning." - Rebecca, Technical Assistant

“I’ve always been a helper. I’m the one who organizes things and brings people together. I’m the youngest girl, so you’d think it would be an older sibling, but that’s just who I am. I like to plan and organize events. For 13 years, my husband and I have hosted a big family reunion at our house to get everyone together. I have two daughters and a son. My family is important to me and I enjoy traveling, camping, and hiking with them. (I also love a good nap!) I still live in the house I grew up in. My mom passed away 18 years ago, but there are tulips she planted that still bloom every year. Can you believe that? My daughter and I have tulip tattoos in memory of my mom. We also enjoy visiting tulip fields in the spring. I think it’s so important for everyone to have some kind of family connections. I’ve always wanted to give youth we serve the kind of family life I had growing up. When I was in college as a psych major, I interned at a foster care and adoption organization. I was pretty much hooked then, and now I’ve been in the field for 22 years. Before starting here in March, I was a permanency director at an affiliate agency. I think coming from that helps me see the work through a different lens and work well with the counties and affiliates. I think every youth deserves a loving home, and I love being able to be a voice for them.” - Shari, Regional Technical Assistant

You don’t need to be a therapist to be therapeutic. No matter what level of trauma-informed your practice may be, it all starts with creating a safe and supportive environment for children (and staff!). Understanding a whole person – their strengths, interests, and goals – and applying a trauma-informed approach builds resilience and instills hope. Join us at the Forum on Pennsylvania Children December 5th to learn more. Teaser: check out the sneak peek from presenter Colleen Cox and register at vocetogether.org today! https://lnkd.in/eWgaQd86 #trauma #FPaC
