“I always wanted to be an actress. I’m probably more comfortable on stage in front of 100 people than I am one-on-one in a Zoom meeting. No surprise, I have a bachelor’s degree in English with a focus on Shakespeare, and I minored in dance. Getting to spend a summer studying theater in London was a highlight of my undergrad days. I don’t spend much time on the stage anymore, but I just started taking dance lessons again, so you never know! I still love the theater, and I go to as many shows as possible. I’m also a yoga teacher. I love to spend time outdoors, especially hiking, paddle boarding, or kayaking with my family and friends. I decided to complete my journey to becoming an attorney on a mountaintop! I went to Peru on a yoga trip with some friends. It was the furthest I had ever been from home. Besides yoga, meditation and journaling, I climbed Machu Picchu Mountain—picture stone steps carved by Incans at 10,000+ feet of elevation. It was hard! I didn’t think I’d make it to the top, but I did. As a child welfare attorney, the sense of responsibility and accountability to the cases I manage is huge to me. After working several years as a paralegal first, I fully appreciate the high level of communication needed to do this work. Being a good lawyer means having confidence, compassion, patience, and most importantly, a real interest in the outcome of a case. I love my job- especially adoption hearing days! I’m so grateful to be there at the end of a long journey for the parents and children, and helping to create a family. It’s incredibly fulfilling.” - Liz, Attorney
