关于我们
Voce (vō-chāy), which means voice, is a change agent. We use our voice, and empower you to use yours, to create positive, lasting change in people’s lives. We use our voice because we believe every person should belong and be empowered to thrive. Our agency (previously known as Family Design Resources) began in 1999 by pioneering a model that is nationally recognized for expediting adoptions and supporting families. Today, we provide consultation and training to agencies throughout the country in the areas of trauma and loss, adoption and permanency, diversity and inclusion, and individual and family well-being. Additionally, with our partner Diakon, we co-administer the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) program for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Voce is a member of the Adoption Exchange Association, Child Welfare League of America, North American Council on Adoptable Children, and Youth Collaboratory.

“You know what’s funny is when I interviewed for a paralegal job in 2012, I really thought I was just going to be doing it for practice. But then they called, and it turns out, I actually got it! That was for Bucks County. I transitioned to Northampton in 2014. I was born and raised in Easton. I worked in the mental health field before this at a partial hospital with high-school-aged students. I was going to go back to school for teaching, but I ended up going for paralegal work instead. When I found out about LSI, I realized it was a good way to mix both legal work and my experience working in mental health. I love the mission of helping children – that’s what everyone wants. It’s really cool. The laws are always changing, so there's always something new going on. The people I’ve met and paralegals I’ve worked with are great. They’re hard workers who would do anything for the people they work with and the kids on their caseloads. Since I’ve become a coordinator, one thing I love is helping problem-solve with paralegals. It's cool to watch them learn, especially when they’re brand new. I also love that I’ve been able to see how different counties do things. Lackawanna, for example, puts on a really cool adoption day event where the workers and judges all dress up and get really into it. It’s great to see. Outside of work, family keeps me busy. I have two little girls I’m always trucking off to one activity or another. But when I can, I love to just decompress on the couch with my shows (Bravo or Eagles/Penn State games) and Moses, my pitbull and first baby. " - Jenna R., LSI Coordinator

“In May, I’ll be celebrating 17 years with Voce. That’s incredible to me. A lot has changed both inside and outside of work. Funny story about interviewing for this position: previously I had worked in project management for several construction companies but had been laid off. At that time, our agency was known as Family Design Resources. Of course, coming from construction, when I saw the word ‘design’ in the title, I had a completely different idea of what the company was all about! But, I found myself drawn to the mission. I have some trauma in my childhood and what Voce was doing to help children was appealing to me. I think I’ve stayed as long as I have because of the relationships with my coworkers. I remember when COVID first began, and companies were advised to shut down temporarily. As a single person, it was a scary time. I was worried we were going to get sent home. Instead, the company called an impromptu meeting. Our director stood up and said, ‘we’re going to try a new thing,’ and that’s when telework began. I really felt valued and trusted. I always just wanted to help people and, in that moment, I knew our administrative assistant team was appreciated for how hard we work. One of my favorite quotes used to hang on the wall at our old office. President Harry Truman said, ‘It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.’ If I can be that person someone knows they can go to for help, that’s what matters most to me.” - Bobbi, LSI Administrative Assistant

“In college, I majored in sociology with a minor in Spanish. I went straight to law school then. I didn’t want to grow up, and I honestly couldn’t see myself practicing law. I considered it an avenue to make more money but, boy, was I wrong! I’ve worked as an adoption advocate for more than 20 years now. My client is the child welfare agency, and although some view the agency or the system as bad, I believe in my heart their intentions are good and they do good work. I wouldn’t stay if I believed differently. I believe my work is making life better for kids. I have hope that they’ll be nurtured, be shown compassion and given opportunities to reach their full potential to be the best adult they can be. When I moved to Pittsburgh for law school, I had my own apartment for the first time. I went to a rescue to adopt a cat—I now have five cats…and a dog—which led to volunteering in rescue, which then led to dog training. When I was volunteering at a shelter, I saw the dogs in the most stressful situation of their lives. It was an education. I became a dog trainer to help make the dogs more adoptable. I really counsel the people more than the dogs. I’d like to scale back from dog training, and eventually retire from practicing law, but I like knowing I’m making kids’ lives and dogs’ lives better.” - Lilian, Attorney
