The Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC Journals) recently published a study conducted at Cleveland Clinic on using artificial intelligence to detect hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a notoriously difficult disease to detect, via standard 12-lead ECGs. We were proud to partner with Viz.ai on this project in 2023. The AI identified 63 previously undiagnosed HCM cases. It showed higher ability to catch true cases in younger patients (sensitivity) and better accuracy ruling out non-cases in older patients (specificity), performing equally well across genders. This study further demonstrates how AI can help physicians identify difficult-to-detect diseases more efficiently and affordably, than in this case traditional echocardiogram methods. https://lnkd.in/edJqB6hf
