We’re excited to announce our recent paper with GSK, "Self-organization of the hematopoietic vascular niche and emergent innate immunity on a chip," published in the journal, Cell Stem Cell. Using Vivodyne's technology, researchers were able to develop an innovative bioengineering approach to recreate human bone marrow outside the body. Using a method inspired by natural development, we combined human blood-forming stem cells with blood vessel cells in a 3D system. This setup allows the cells to self-organize into lifelike, vascularized tissue resembling the bone marrow environment. We used this system to model how bone marrow is damaged by radiation and how the immune system reacts to a bacterial lung infection. We’ve also built an advanced platform that automates these processes, enabling large-scale testing of cancer drugs for potential harmful effects on bone marrow. Our technology opens exciting new possibilities for studying human biology on real human tissues to improve drug development. Read the paper: https://lnkd.in/gydE3G5M
