What a great gathering at the first Vivery Community Morning Meetup on Oct 1 in Chicago. After breakfast and networking, Nasrin Thierer, founding board member of Vivery Community, talked about the great strides Vivery has made in providing? access to available food for food insecure neighbors across the nation, and how instrumental community partnerships have been in Vivery’s adoption. The thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by Ashley Friend, Managing Director of Vivery Community Partnerships, focused on the unique partnership between Vivery Community and several community organizations. The panelists shared insights on the collaborative program to provide in-home delivery of nutritious food to people with disabilities in Chicago’s Austin community. A huge thank you to our panelists, Commissioner Rachel Arfa MOPD, City of Chicago, Amy Laboy, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Dion Dawson, Dion’s Chicago Dream, Steve Epting, Hope Community Church, and Darriel S Anderson, Circle Urban Ministries for their incredible contributions and collaboration. Today, in collaboration with their 225 member organizations, they distribute more than 12M pounds of food a year. Thanks to Vivery, seniors facing food insecurity anywhere in the state of Louisiana can now easily find locations offering monthly food boxes filled with nutritious USDA foods designed to help supplement a healthy diet. The Feeding Louisiana CSFP (senior food box program) map is live - https://lnkd.in/gqTGHUM8. ? Feeding Louisiana, the Louisiana food bank association, is using Vivery to make it easy for neighbors to locate senior food box programs at nearly 300 CSFP locations across the state. Many of these locations are associated with existing Vivery partners - Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Food Bank Of Central Louisiana, and Second Harvest Food Bank Feeding South Louisiana. The beauty of this first-ever statewide CSFP map of Louisiana is that even agencies of food banks who have not yet joined the Vivery community and offer CSFP, can be found on the map by seniors participating in the program. ? Welcome Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to the Vivery community: https://lnkd.in/gJrFjKeh Founded in 1980, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma distributes food through a network of more than 1,300 community-based partner agencies and schools in 53 counties in central and western Oklahoma. Making it easier for their neighbors to find food nearby is another step towards their vision of a state where no one goes hungry. Vivery saved the day at Living Water Life Center in Morriston, FL. Their meat freezer stopped working on a very hot Sunday, but thanks to free text messaging from Vivery, they were able to alert their community about an emergency frozen meat distribution that day. Within 2 hours of the message being sent, 200 people received packages of frozen meat and no meat had to be thrown away.??? ?? ?? “We are thrilled with Vivery text messaging, it couldn’t have worked better! Vivery is one of the best steps we have taken in a long time to have better contact with our community, and to lighten our workload,” said Callie Fields, Food Pantry Director.
