As many look forward to the holiday season, we want to provide a friendly reminder that prioritizing and supporting physical and emotional wellness should not take a backseat to your holiday plans. The holiday season can often bring up complex feelings - which is common for many people! Last year, SAMHSA offered some great background around and suggestions for how to create a plan for prioritizing your mental health during the holidays. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eEDRctXH For supervisors and managers, consider how to best support psychological safety and prioritize mental well-being for your staff members. Providing access to mental health resources like EAPs and offering dedicated time for self-care can all help reduce these pressures and create a healthier work environment, among other ideas that your organizations may have. At the end of the day, supporting your own mental health and the mental health of your family, friends and colleagues isn't just the right thing to do—it's essential for promoting joy and community during the holiday season. Let's make it a priority. #MentalHealth #Stress #Anxiety #WorkEnvironment #Leadership #PsychologicalSafety

If you had to describe what it means for an organization to be trauma-responsive, how would you do that? At Vivant Behavioral Healthcare, our goal has been to create a trauma-responsive organizational framework that highlights safety, open communication, and emotional intelligence. In our first three years, we have found that integrating trauma-responsive strategies into company culture has created a stronger, more collaborative and more resilient organization. Prioritizing these principles helps us support those affected by trauma while cultivating a workplace where everyone thrives, driving better outcomes for both staff and clients. Important reminder for healthcare leaders and providers about committing to wellness and self-care to mitigate burnout from Tom Kenny.
CEO, Vivant Behavioral Healthcare | Behavioral Health Advocate | Expert in Industry Best Practices, Leadership Development, and Growth Strategies | Leading with Innovation in Behavioral Health
In the article Curing Burnout Contagion, it’s noted that “The upward path of burnout is a call to action for all leadership.” Leaders, ask yourselves: How can I structure my day to prevent burnout? What habits can I form, and which no longer serve me? As many of our programs achieve Sanctuary Model certification this year, I hear many of our employees talking about how they can proactively create their own self-care plan - which creates the conditions for supporting one another through a trauma-responsive lens. Many of those self-care plans have started by cultivating habits that support well-being—set clear boundaries around work hours, prioritize breaks, and incorporate physical activity or mindfulness. At the same time, eliminate habits that fuel stress, like overcommitting or pushing through without rest. Leading by example is crucial. A supportive workplace starts at the top, and when leaders prioritize their well-being, it sets the tone for a healthier, more productive team. #Burnout #Leadership #MentalHealth #Support #Prevention #SelfCare

Multiple studies confirm what many families of autistic children already know—GI issues like constipation are a common and often frustrating challenge alongside autism. One study found that 46 to 84% of children with ASD experience these GI issues, which can affect sleep, behavior, and mental health. While the exact cause isn’t fully understood, it’s clear that conditions like food selectivity and ARFID can make GI issues more complicated. The good news is that changes in diet can make a difference. For children with food selectivity, combining targeted nutritional strategies with behavioral approaches can offer real relief. With the right support, these challenges can be managed, helping kids thrive both physically and emotionally. There’s always a way forward—and with the right care, improvements are possible. #Autism #GutHealth #ASD

This short video from the American Academy of Pediatrics drives home an important point—trauma leaves a lasting impact on health, especially for children as they grow. That's why trauma-informed care is essential. When children have stable, supportive relationships, their stress responses improve. For kids, those relationships aren't just helpful—they're the key to moving from merely surviving to truly thriving, laying the foundation for healthier, happier lives. During Corporate Compliance & Ethics Week, we want to thank our professionals around our organization and across the healthcare industry who help to promote the highest standards of quality, safety and integrity to the care being provided to individuals and families. From protecting individual rights to fostering a culture of accountability, having a strong ethical framework is essential in building trust with the individuals and families that we serve and within our larger communities. Compliance isn't a one-time effort—it's an ongoing commitment to doing what’s right, every single day. This week, we recognize the hard work of our teams, compliance professionals, and leadership in upholding these values. Together, we are making a difference, ensuring that the services we offer not only meet but exceed the standards of care. Let's continue to lead with integrity, create a safe space for healing, and champion ethical practices in all aspects of our work. ?? #HealthcareCompliance #HCCA #CCEW #CorporateComplianceAndEthicsWeek #BehavioralHealth #QualityCare #EthicsInHealthcare #ComplianceCulture #PatientSafety #Accountability #IntegrityMatters

As communities continue to see an increase in the need for behavioral health services across the continuum of care, behavioral health providers must work collaboratively to raise the bar on Treatment Quality and Patient Safety best practices. Thankful to Marianne Birmingham, MS, MBA, CHC for representing our organization at The Joint Commission Behavioral Health Conference. Great opportunity to share ideas with industry leaders to have thoughtful and nuanced conversations about how to improve patient experience.
Wrapping up another successful The Joint Commission Behavioral Health Conference, where I had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and dive into discussions around quality and safety improvements in behavioral healthcare. It was energizing to hear from speakers like Ken Grubbs DNP, MBA, RN, Stacey Paul, and field teams, each bringing invaluable perspectives on advancing care standards and regulatory excellence. I also made a new friend, Kona, from PAWSitive Therapy Troupe ?? From new strategies in risk management to innovations in patient safety, the insights shared are helping us all sharpen our approach to delivering care. I’m looking forward to applying these learnings and collaborating with our teams at Vivant Behavioral Healthcare and Barrins & Associates, an HBS Company to continue strengthening our commitment to high-quality, safe care for every patient, every day. #BehavioralHealth #QualityImprovement #PatientSafety #HealthcareLeadership #Accreditation #JointCommission
