We all know LA is extremely complex with the dynamics of the city and county and the vast nature of our local representatives and political framework. Our LAB Fellows learned about government relations and civic engagement from the amazing Samantha Martinez from Kendel Gagan, A Public Affairs Advocacy Firm. Our Fellows dove in with many questions on understanding the trajectory of ones own civic engagement and how they can position themselves to help Vista in this way. Thank you to Samantha and a special shout out to LAB Member, Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez for connecting Vista with Samantha! #civicengagement #advocacy #communityleaders #LAB #philanthropy

Our LAB Fellows had a special field trip for their workshop in February. Hosted at the beautiful facility of the Creative Artists Agency. Our Fellows heard from Deborah Marcus, an executive at The CAA Foundation. Hearing about their initiatives, leadership, and aligning their clients’ philanthropic visions to a variety of causes was truly inspirational. We are so grateful to Deborah for being so thoughtful and connected and we look forward to this growing partnership. A huge shout out as well to CAA’s James Kang! #LAB #caa #philanthropy #fieldtrip

Just wrapped up an inspiring three days at the California Alliance of Child & Family Services Advocacy Seminar in Sacramento with Vista Leadership! CEO & President Lena Wilson Wilson, Chief Strategy Officer Karriann Farrell Hinds Farrell Hinds, and Program Director Abbi Cardiel Garcia, LMFT had the chance to sit down with several legislators who are making decisions that directly impact the children and families we serve. We connected with Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin’s office alongside friends from Casa Pacifica and The Village Family Services, and met with Assemblymember Blanca Rubio’s team with colleagues from The Village and St. Anne's Family Services. Assemblymember John Harabedian’s office was particularly receptive to our concerns about children’s mental health needs - thank you for listening and your ongoing support! It was especially meaningful to celebrate CACF’s 25 years of advocacy work while we were there. Nothing beats the energy of coming together with other organizations who share our mission. #InvestInYouthFutures #9700ReasonsToAct #AdvocacyInAction #childrensmentalhealth

Our dedicated Intensive Community Family-Based Services team continues their vital work supporting youth impacted by Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) through innovative, trauma-informed programming. This February, staff created a space where creativity and healing flourished through their “Freedom to Thrive” curriculum. Through art projects, thoughtful discussions, and peer support, youth explored meaningful expressions of love - from self-care to healthy friendships and community connections. Each participant channeled their creativity into beautiful handmade projects, some as gifts for special people in their lives, others as personal reminders of their own strength and worth. We’re deeply grateful to our compassionate staff and advocates who continue to create safe, inspiring spaces where young people can heal, grow, and thrive. Vista Del Mar’s commitment to supporting CSEC-impacted youth remains unwavering as we work together toward healing and empowerment. ?? #csecawareness #therapeutic #love #youthempowerment #artashealing #traumainformed
