It’s officially Valentine’s season in Loveland! Our team had the opportunity to invite many of our partners in the annual Loveland tradition of stamping the cache/poem on Valentines cards today that are being sent all over the world as part of our annual Valentines Re-Mailing program. The Loveland Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center estimated that we stamped about 10,000 letters over the course of about 4 hours! Its not too late to drop off your letters if you haven’t yet…https://lnkd.in/gqhgPsJ3 #visitloveland #valentinesday

Every year since 1980, when it was established by the United Nations, we celebrate #WorldTourismDay. This year’s theme, fittingly, is “Tourism and Peace.” All of us who work in the industry understand the importance of travel and tourism and work every day to unleash its power to bring people together, strengthen our communities and make our world better. Thank you for the work you do and your continued commitment to the DI community.

Last week, we said goodbye to our awesome summer interns as their internships came to a close. We wanted to take some time this week to introduce them. Collin Keenan was our Sales & Event Marketing Intern and gained hands-on experience in everything from planning event activities and managing the selection of a new point of sales system to helping to produce marketing collateral and facilitating FAM tours. Collin was recently selected to receive a scholarship from the Colorado Tourism Office to attend the Annual Colorado Governors Tourism Conference this week. Here are some of his thoughts on his time with Visit Loveland: -What school do you attend? I attend Colorado State University as a Natural Resource Tourism B.S. declared major. -What interested you in the internship? I finished one of my senior capstones last year which pertained to Estes Park and its past and current issues with degrading infrastructure and maintenance backlogs and how certain facets of an international tourism plan would benefit the location. After completing that capstone my interest for the tourism mountain town dynamic was peaked, so seeing Visit Loveland post a "Tourism Assistant" intern role was an unexpected surprise! ?-What were some of your most memorable moments from the experience? Some of the most memorable events were the familiarization tours that Visit Loveland hosted. I was able to meet international journalists from all walks of life, ride horses in the foothills, and participate in local food tasting sessions all around Loveland. Event set up was a common part of the job at Visit Loveland, and I was able to attend and help manage multiple events such as; TPC Berthoud Korn Ferry PGA tour, Loveland Corn & Cherry Festivals, CSAE, and the Loveland Pastels on 5th Event. -What do you plan to do next? I hope to begin work in November/December in outdoor recreation oriented marketing, such as: Outreach programs for nonprofits that facilitate outdoor recreation opportunities for under-underprivileged groups, or destination marketing for resorts & MICE affiliated organizations. I hope to gain a valuable marketing position in the Tourism field in some way or another. Great work this summer, Collin! ??

Last week, we said goodbye to our awesome summer interns as their internships came to a close. We wanted to take some time this week to introduce them. Mackenzie Glenn was our Marketing Intern and gained hands-on experience in everything from writing blogs and managing social media to working events and facilitating FAM tours. Here are some of her thoughts on her time with Visit Loveland: What school did you attend? Colorado State University - I have a Bachelor's in Journalism and a minor in Business! What did you find most interesting during your time here? I found the entire experience interesting. It was awesome learning more about the Tourism Industry and developing my career skillset. What was your most memorable experience? Getting to explore the City of Loveland on my first day. It was interesting to learn about all of the promotable activities and attractions Loveland has to offer. What is next for you? I hope to apply the skills I learned in a permanent, full-time marketing position. From all of us at Visit Loveland, great work, Mackenzie. ??

What a great day of content production with Susan Jessup, owner of Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch & Retreat Center! Sylvan Dale is one of Loveland’s longest running tourism attractions and Susan has been a part of it for nearly 80 years. We can’t wait to share the finished product! Big thanks to Sarah Weiss, Rob Shearer, Kevin Kuehnast, Collin Keenan and all of the staff and guests at Sylvan Dale who made everything possible today!
