Visiting Angels of South Elgin, IL

To our beloved Caregiving team, clients, and their families: This is a bittersweet moment for Arlene and me, but after 20 years as owners of Visiting Angels of South Elgin, we have made the decision to retire. It’s been a joy and a privilege to come alongside thousands of families over the last two decades to provide a valuable resource to those whose deepest desire is to remain independent in their homes. It’s also been a great honor to provide employment opportunities in our community. This was not an easy decision to make as many clients and employees have been like family to us. Yet, we are entering the season of life where we are getting older ourselves, and we feel it’s just time. Please help us welcome John and Allison Barrett as our successors, acquiring the company as of June 26, 2023. John will be working full-time at Visiting Angels while Allison will be maintaining her full-time remote position outside of Visiting Angels yet have a consistent presence at Visiting Angels. Just as Arlene and I have a personal story of why we were drawn to helping older adults, so does John. He has had personal experiences with family members in nursing homes and in home care, and he has seen the benefits of how home care has had an enormous positive impact on his own loved ones. We are delighted to pass on the business to a couple with similar values as ours. We are proud of Visiting Angels’ high standards and are confident that John and Allison will continue this legacy. What can you expect? You can expect the same great support and genuine care from the amazing office team that you are familiar with. You can expect the same sweet client and caregiver relationships too. John and Allison are looking forward to meeting you all and will be communicating their plans for that in the near future. What are our plans? We don’t exactly know yet, but we have had fun creating a bucket list of ideas. We are blessed to have all our children and grandchildren in the local area, as well as our parents, and we hope to spend more time with our family. I enjoy woodworking and gardening, and Arlene has taken up sewing and crafting. Who knows, maybe we’ll have our own Esty store someday! (Ha ha - not really!) Each of our team members have left an imprint on our hearts. Each of you are genuinely the most caring people we know. We have been so honored to work alongside you and see the positive impact you make in our community. Keep on doing what you are doing because you do make a difference. Someday, when our own needs arise for home care, we will confidently be calling on Visiting Angels to support us in our own home. When that time comes, we will gladly be a customer because we know the high quality that Visiting Angels delivers. We will be around for a bit, helping John as he takes the reins. John recently joined the Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and attended his very first event yesterday! It was a great opportunity to connect with local professionals, and he even got to meet Erika from Social Butterfly Social Media Management Services in person—finally! ?? We’re proud to serve the seniors and families in Huntley and can’t wait to be an active part of this incredible Chamber community.
