August 1, 2024 was a day of celebration! We officially opened a new Welcome Center in the heart of Old Town Square in downtown Fort Collins. We have reimagined what our visitor services model is. We are a Welcome Center by day and a Community Hub by night. It is part of our promise to love our community and to focus on the values that connect us. We will be programming music, art, intellectual pursuits and time together for new memories and experiences, residents and visitors side by side. Join us tomorrow, Wednesday 10/2, from 5pm-6:30pm at the Fort Collins Welcome Center for our Ram Talk: "Taking on the Challenge of Taxic Polarization: Better Conversations in a Hyper-Partisan World" Our speaker tomorrow will be Martín Carcasson, Ph.D., a professor in the Communication Studies department of Colorado State University, the founder and director of the CSU Center for Public Deliberation (CPD). His research focuses on helping local communities address “wicked problems” more productively through improved public communication, community problem solving, and collaborative decision-making. The CPD is a practical, applied extension of his work, and functions as an impartial resource dedicated to enhancing local democracy in Northern Colorado. Dr. Carcasson and the CPD staff train students to serve as impartial facilitators, who then work with local governments, school boards, and community organizations to design, facilitate, and report on innovative projects and events on key community issues. We have been having an amazing time connecting, learning, and enjoying the stunning fall scenery here in #CrestedButte for the Colorado Tourism Office's 2024 Governor's Conference! ?? A special shout out to our CEO Cynthia Eichler who led a session yesterday called "Visitor Centers as Community Hubs", discussing our newly opened Fort Collins Welcome Center. Her co-host Jennifer Bowen, CDME also presented on behalf of Destination Augusta about their visitor center Augusta & Co. To all fellow attendees, we look forward to seeing you tonight! ?? #COGovCon

Last week I had the honor of hosting a roundtable for Women-Owned Businesses in Fort Collins at Elevation 5003 Distillery. We had 15 businesses represented and a wonderful time of connection, conversation, and relationship-building. I'm proud to live in and support a community with wonderful small businesses, many of them women-owned! Thank you to everyone who attended. I can't wait for next time!
