Did you hear? ?? Winston-Salem was awarded the 2024 Tree City USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation for our commitment to plant, grow and maintain trees. To earn this designation, cities must meet four core standards including maintaining a tree board or department, have a tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and participate in an Arbor Day celebration. Spoiler alert: this isn't a trend for us. Winston-Salem has earned the Tree City USA recognition 23 times! When rich history meets vibrant innovation, you get a city that maintains it's commitment to preservation while also looking forward to the future.
