Yesterday, we had the incredible opportunity to hear from John David, STS, President & CEO of the Sports Events & Tourism Association (Sports ETA), who shared key insights into national sports tourism trends and inspiring case studies. He also shared his perspective on the opportunities we have in front of us in Baton Rouge as a premier sports destination. It was an engaging luncheon with hoteliers, venue representatives, and developers about what’s next for sports in our city. Earlier this month, the Office of Tourism visited Colorado Springs to explore opportunities for hosting more Olympic and Paralympic events in Louisiana. Did you know that Louisiana successfully hosted the USA Boxing Olympic Trials and the USA Table Tennis Olympic Trials during the last Olympic and Paralympic season? These events showcased our state's capacity to facilitate high-level competitions and brought significant attention to our local sports community. Of course, we had to bring along some delicious Louisiana seafood to share! Our mission in Colorado Springs was inspired by these successful events, as we aim to continue fostering such opportunities for athletes while promoting Louisiana as a premier destination for Olympic and Paralympic activities. We believe that bringing more of these events to our state will not only benefit our local economy but also inspire future generations of athletes.
