The City of Alexandria, Virginia's Office of the Arts unveiled the newest annual temporary public art installation at Waterfront Park at an opening reception on March 22. Visit Alexandria’s SVP of Marketing & Communications Claire Mouledoux is a founding member of the task force for the "Site See: New Views in Old Town" public art series, and she joined local leaders, task force members and more at a celebration with remarks from the artist. ? "Break Water" is the creation of D.C.-based artist Nekisha Durrett. The sculpture draws inspiration from Alexandria’s waterfront being a place where natural forces and human activity intersect, often with profound consequences. Together, the sculpture and the mural create a powerful tribute to the creativity and enduring spirit of Alexandria’s Black community. We hope you’ll visit the installation, open now until November, and learn more about the stories behind the work. ?? https://lnkd.in/eWTaEufU ?? https://lnkd.in/e4uwQeHY #visitALX #meetALX

Visit Alexandria转å‘了
This month marks 6 years with Visit Alexandria! ?? From joining Claire Mouledoux and Rebecca Doser onstage at Times Square’s Edison Ballroom to receive a top award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) to traveling through Civil Rights sites in Montgomery, Alabama, with the Alexandria Community Remembrance Project to standing on the Alexandria City High School track with the world’s fastest man (an Alexandrian!), the memories I’ve made are beyond what I could have ever imagined when I joined the organization as Communications Associate & Writer in February 2019. Every day, I learn from my co-workers about all elements of destination marketing and am inspired to tell Alexandria’s stories in new, compelling and inclusive ways for all visitors. In the meantime, my colleagues have become lifelong friends. Thank you to our organizational and MarComm departmental leadership, Todd O'Leary, CDME, CTIS, Tom Kaiden, Claire Mouledoux, Rebecca Doser, Vito Fiore and Misha Enriquez (as well as Patricia Washington, Leah Berger, APR, ECI and all my past and current colleagues), for your trust, inspiration and encouragement over all these years. #visitALX P.S. We're eyeing a significant milestone on Visit Alexandria's Instagram—go ahead and give us a follow at @visitalexva if you haven't already!

Street Style: Meet Todd O'Leary, President and CEO of Visit Alexandria Of Alexandria, Todd says, “I was immediately impressed. It’s 276 years old and it's not a city stuck in the past. It honors its past and knows its roots, while firmly looking forward. There’s so much flair in this historical place, and it’s been so interesting to learn and experience each of its neighborhoods. Old Town, The West End, Del Ray…and the arts and cultural district that’s growing in North Old Town. Potomac Yard and Virginia Tech’s new innovation campus."
