Happy World Optometry Day! Today, we celebrate all our optometrists and frontline eyecare workers who make our mission possible. On the run-up to this special day, we have highlighted 4 VisionSpring optometrists: Kumari, Sadia, Charles, and Bhavyashree. Road safety can be complicated. But eyeglasses are not. Last week in Delhi, we co-hosted the 4th annual Vision and Road Safety Conference (VARS) to highlight the crucial link between clear vision and safer roads. Hosted alongside India Vision Institute, Sightsavers India, and Mission for Vision, the event brought together experts, policymakers, and advocates to push for policy reforms, cross-sector collaboration, and improved access to eye health services. As mentioned by Amod K. Kanth, more than 150,000 people are killed in road crashes every year in India, and advancing eye health initiatives is a crucial step toward prevention. Eyeglasses are a simple and cost-effective solution to minimize the harmful consequences on both drivers and pedestrians.
