I spend a good bit of my time discussing with others our vision for Visily. One common question I get asked is if our goal for Visily is to have designers replaced by AI (wielded by non-designers), to which my answer is always the same: I’m married to a designer, so there would be personal repercussions for pursuing that goal. ?? But the real answer is this: We want AI to do the monotonous design tasks that no one—designer or non-designer—should be doing. If you’ve ever prototyped an app flow, chances are that 90% of your time was spent manually connecting an element to an (obvious) destination (e.g. “Submit” button to confirmation page; “Pricing” menu item to pricing page). This work is neither creative nor interesting, but it’s necessary. And it’s precisely the kind of thing AI should be leveraged for. To that end, today we launched the first version of Auto-Prototyping. When creating screens in Visily, Auto-Prototyping creates those connections for you, allowing you to get from idea to clickable prototype in a smarter, faster, and less frustrating way. When we describe the vision for Visily, this is what we mean: it should both expand the capabilities of non-designers and extend the bandwidth of all users (designers and non-designers alike), by taking the time-sucking tasks off their plates!
