Askel Healthcare Ltd- the team are addressing knee osteoarthritis cases which are increasing significantly worldwide, largely due to untreated cartilage damage. The COPLA device is a biodegradable implant that��s engineered for ease of implantation and unrestricted full weight-bearing post-surgery. Results of the device��s FIH pilot clinical trial were fantastic. It��s targeting FDA clearance in 2030 . Virpi Muhonen and Niina Huikuri are an amazing team! 3. CytexOrtho - its ReNew Hip Implant won the inaugural OrthoPitch Technology Competition and is designed to restore natural hip function rather than replace diseased portions of the joint with an artificial implant. Foundation Surgical- developing the Vertiwedge intraosseous device, an implant designed to maintain motion preservation in the spine. It has secured FDA 510(k) clearance and has already received FDA 510(k) clearance to market its Interwedge Standalone Lateral Interbody System- Dr. Randal Betz. 5. OrthoPreserve- secured FDA Breakthrough Device Designation and Total Product Lifecycle Advisory Program (TAP) enrollment for Defender, a meniscus implant that restores knee function for patients who continue to experience pain or impairment after meniscus surgery. It offers a less invasive alternative to knee replacement, or an alternative to meniscectomy. It plans to launch its pilot clinical trial in 2026, with the goal of securing FDA clearance by 2029 -Jonathan Schwartz 6. VISIE Inc. - the company��s Continuous Anatomic Auto Tracking (CAAT) technology provides advanced vision capabilities during robotic-assisted total knee replacements and its 3D scanning allows for the continuous tracking of the joint��s movement in real time. The ability to track anatomy in real time without pin fixation has the potential to improve surgical outcomes in knee replacement surgery. How do surgeons find the center of the femoral head for knee replacements? In total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the Hip Center is a secret weapon for navigation and robotic systems. It defines the functional center of the hip��critical for understanding femural mechanical alignment. With mechanical instruments, we relied on X-rays to estimate the angular difference between the mechanical and anatomic axes, then set the IM rod to 3�C7 degrees. Occasionally, if we are honest, it was even a best guess. Today��s tracking technologies eliminate the guesswork.
