Empowering the next generation of leaders! Muscular Dystrophy Association National Ambassador Leah J. Zelaya and her parents Jamie and Bevi, recently visited Henry Viscardi School, joining Dr. Chris Rosa, President & CEO of The Viscardi Center and proud MDA Board Member, to inspire rising juniors and seniors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership. Leah shared her story of determination and ingenuity, reminding students that no matter the challenges they face living with disabilities, resilience and creativity can open doors to endless possibilities. Dr. Rosa not only led a heartfelt discussion about overcoming challenges and embracing gratitude as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday but also gave an in-depth tour of Henry Viscardi School ant The Viscardi Center. He shared the rich history and sheer determination of Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., the trailblazer behind this remarkable institution. For decades, The Viscardi Center has been a leader in the disability inclusion movement—values that deeply align with MDA's mission of empowerment and inclusion. ? We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with such talented and driven students. Together, we are building a more inclusive and empowered future. #MDA #Leadership #Gratitude #Inclusion #DisabilityAdvocacy ? ?? by aaron tomlinson

Our Reach for a Star Luncheon was a smash hit! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to raise funding for Henry Viscardi School’s afterschool and adapted sports programs. A special standing ovation to our starring Broadway performer, Jarrod Spector, who truly owned the stage! His dazzling performance had the room spellbound and left us all cheering for an encore. The day was made even more special by a heartwarming song with our second graders, who reminded us all why friends are so important!

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we took a moment to chat with our very own Chief Information Officer, Michael Caprara, to dive into the significance of digital accessibility in the workplace. NDEAM’s 2024 theme of, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” was the ideal time to discuss how Mike has seen firsthand the impact digital accessibility can have on leveling the playing field for people with disabilities, especially when it comes to finding and excelling in meaningful jobs. In our blog, he shares insights on how?Viscardi is helping organizations create inclusive environments and why these efforts are so critical to bridging gaps in the workforce. https://lnkd.in/eYGZzfa3

My team at accessiBe analyzed the top 100 most visited online retailers in the United States and discovered that 96% had accessibility issues. Is it alarming? Yes. Does it mean that web accessibility can help you differentiate yourself from the saturated retail competition? Absolutely. And so much more.
