What an incredible first day at #BESummit24 – inspiring to see so many innovators coming together to develop solutions to one of the hardest challenges humanity has ever faced. Here are a few of our favorite moments from today: - To kick off the Summit we heard from Breakthrough Executive Director Rodi Guidero laying the groundwork for the clean industrial revolution, the steps we need to take to achieve a net-zero future, and the technologies that can bring about change at a global scale. - Eric Toone provided an insightful retrospective on energy consumption and an optimistic lookahead for how we can harness natural resources and emergent technologies to arrive at a net-zero future. - One of the next frontiers will be integrating AI into the clean energy revolution. It has the power to make utilities more efficient and help mining companies identify mineral rich deposits: “AI holds tremendous promise for the energy transition. It can actually help us turn the unimaginable into a possibility.” - Melanie Nakagawa, Microsoft Chief Sustainability Officer - Rajeev Ram, Partner at Breakthrough Energy, has unveiled the new Grid Modeling Project aimed at modernizing power grids. This open source platform will revolutionize grid planning, forecasting, and the integration of clean energy. “What we’re announcing today is an ambitious project to create an open-source platform to allow anyone, anywhere in the world to develop a plan for how to decarbonize electricity”. To close out the day we took a deep dive into our unique approach of discovery, development, and deployment. With this multifaceted approach we can identify nascent technologies and help spur widespread adoption of clean tech. Looking forward to another inspiring day tomorrow.
