Today, Virginia Partnership for Out-of-School Time (VPOST) shared the newly released Quality Standards for Virginia's Out-of-School Time Programs with the Virginia Commission on Youth. Comprised of state senators and delegates, the commission plays a vital role in shaping policies for Virginia's youth. Our presentation highlighted the importance of bridging the gap in quality support for school-age programs. With recent investments of $9 million since 2022, it’s clear that Virginia is committed to enhancing afterschool and summer learning opportunities for our youth. Our Quality Standards will help ensure these investments see a positive return for children, families, and communities across Virginia! VPOST is dedicated to building a network of quality out-of-school-time programming for all Virginia children and youth. We do this by building an identifiable system of programs within every Virginia community that can better meet the needs of Virginia families during the workday hours when adults are working and kids are not in school. Our role as a leader in the field is to help ensure that every Virginia community creates an identifiable system that meets its specific needs, and then connect those systems across the state so that we can support families throughout the Commonwealth while strengthening program quality, creating a community of providers, and supporting the field.
