VWU's Ethics Bowl Team Prepares for Statewide Competition: The team is preparing to compete against 16 other highly-qualified student teams from Virginia’s leading independent colleges and universities, deliberating on the topic, “Ethics and Artificial Intelligence.” The 25th annual statewide collegiate Applied Ethics Bowl is sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) and will be hosted on the campus of the University of Richmond in February 2025. https://bit.ly/3VwfYon

Last Thursday evening, VFIC Chairman, William Van Buren, III, Esq., hosted a reception at his office of Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. in Norfolk for VFIC Hampton Roads friends and supporters. Attendees heard remarks from VFIC President Locke Ogens, who shared the organization’s vision to increase scholarship funds for deserving students. Two students from VFIC member schools shared their inspirational education journeys which have led them to achieve more than they imagined possible before college. Hampton University President for Student Success and Enrollment Management Barbara L. Inman, Ed. introduced Nya Bradshaw, who is majoring in aviation management. Virginia Wesleyan University Dean of the Susan S. Goode School of Arts and Humanities Travis Malone, Ph.D. introduced Rowan Stuart, a recent graduate who is pursuing his MBA at Virginia Wesleyan and will enter law school next year.

Fifty-two students from Brunswick High School visited Hampton University on Tuesday, November 12 for a campus tour and lunch through the Gear Up Excelencia Campus Tour Program. Each student received a swag bag containing admissions information for all of VFIC’s 17-member colleges and universities. These tours are made possible through a partnership with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Thank you to Hampton University, for sharing your campus with these students!
