This week, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed into law new protections to ensure fair warranty and recall reimbursement for Virginia’s automotive technicians and dealerships. "We thank our great bill patrons, Delegate Briana Sewell Sewell and Senator Jeremy McPike, for championing fairness for Virginia’s dealerships and the technicians who keep our communities moving and Governor Youngkin for signing the bills,” said Don Hall, President and CEO of VADA. “In many ways, this legislation is about one thing: doing what’s right. Dealerships shouldn’t be forced to eat the cost of a manufacturer’s mistake, and technicians deserve to be paid for the work they actually do. This month, VADA's Don Hall spent time at a retreat —?aptly named "Business Bourbon & Cigars" —?with the mastermind crew from Me Plus Ultra and founder Scott Joseph. His big takeaway: "It was great as always to hear from dealers and our suppliers. But listening to leaders from outside our industry who offered fresh perspectives reminded me of something I’ve always known: Our business is not as unique as we sometimes think. At the core, every industry is about the same thing: Serving your customers, taking care of your people, and adapting to a world that never stops changing. Too often, auto dealers and leaders get stuck in our own echo chambers, doing things the way they’ve always been done.
