I had an amazing day attending the LA Sports & Entertainment Supplier Diversity Summit on Thursday. I saw old connections, made new connections, and learned how LA Mayor Karen Bass is working to uplift small businesses through government contracting. She wants to keep local government contracts in CA and a portion going to small, local businesses. Local government agencies and nonprofits were providing resources on how to get certified and contract ready. My main takeaways: *do your research *get certified *and be ready when the opportunity presents itself.

I’m excited to share that I have been selected to participate in the Hello Alice x Global Entrepreneur Network x Wells Fargo Equitable Access Boost Camp. As a small, woman-owned business, I’m adamant about keeping on top of my education, consulting with mentors, networking, and seeking other resources to help grow my business. I look forward to this new opportunity.??

Last night I attended Meet the NFL in Los Angeles reception with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. The National Football League (NFL) Los Angeles Headquarters is jaw dropping. I’m most impressed with their community programs. The NFL made a conscious effort to be an active resident of the community. Their program with the local high school students boasts a successful 100% college admissions rate. The NFL also has a beautification program. Every year they choose a neighborhood business to beautify. It was an engaging evening with tasty food and drinks. Thank you @dorayucas for the invitation.??

I attended “Unlocking Retail Readiness Mixer” last week hosted by The SoLa Foundation and Target Accelerator Target Forward Founders Alumni gave us the skinny on the ins-and-outs of being in big retail. My key takeaways are: ?be realistic about your capabilities (financial and production) to fulfill the demands of big retail, ?have your pitch and numbers on point, ?make sure your business systems are in place, and ?as hard as it is to get into big retail, it’s harder staying there. Thank you Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to speak as a panelist on the Embrace Innovation – How Generative AI Empowers Small Businesses during your Small Business Summit. Grace Park of Nuleep and I had a great conversation moderated by Christopher J Miller. We shared our hands-on experiences with AI and opportunities for small businesses. Small business owners wear many hats. Oftentimes, we spend more time working ‘in’ the business instead of ‘on’ the business. Leveraging AI will free up time for you to focus on access to capital, growth, and the ultimate goal of thriving. My hope is that other small business owners walked away inspired and ready to embrace AI.
