I just got these pictures from the talk I gave last week to the SPG Mastermind group, a collective of ambitious entrepreneurs in the fitness industry. Clearly, I was having a blast, sharing with them some stories about my own endurance challenges and adventures and the myriad lessons I learned along the way that I apply to my business, personal life and community service. So grateful to Joe Hashey and Vince Gabriele Media for inviting me to speak. In fact, one of the main takeaways from my talk was simply to surround yourself with inspiring people (people who support you but not your excuses), and Joe and Vince are definitely two of those guys in my life. Another thing I've learned that I repeat often is "Doing hard things helps you do hard things." What are some of the lessons you've learned from other parts of your life that you apply to your business life?

We just wrapped up our mastermind meeting in Orlando. The theme of the meeting was "Think and Grow Rich for Gym Owners". It was a play on the most ripped off and respected personal development book of all time by Napoleon Hill. Pretty much everything you have learned about success and achievement started from this book. One of the principles in the success philosophy was the Mastermind Principle.? We taught strategies to get what we want but getting it faster. In our Mastermind group, there are people doing extraordinary things. They have the answers because they have done it or they are doing it already. When a new member wants to do something like.. - open a second location? - do a pre-launch - connect with joint ventures? - write a book - start a podcast - run a marketing campaign - raise their prices - launch a small group program? - start a nutrition program… …someone in the group has done it already. ?As part of the SPF mastermind, you get all the answers from fellow gym owners who have already "taken the test". My favorite business book is Traction by Gino Wickman. It outlines a process called EOS, which stands for Entrepreneurial Operating System.
